Service Unity running at Background

Hello,

i am making a game where i need a pedometer running on the background, the problem is that on unity is impossible, now i want to try by making a service on native android and attach to my unity app.

The question is, is it possible to create a service and keep it running on the background when the game is not on focus? i mean the game can be stopped or minimized but the servcie can continue running?

Thank you so much, i need a game tha count steps. If you know how can i do this i really really appreciate it!
