As the Senior UX Technical Designer/Prototyper in Anthem.ai’s design group you will be the crucial partner to our interaction and user researchers, UX designers, and scientists, to help bring a new generation of powerful, AI-driven healthcare tools, workflows and experiences to physicians, clinicians and members (patients). If you have ever been thought about combining game design with scientific visualization to help people, this is the role for you.

In this role, you are responsible for figuring out “how” we bring this next generation of precision medicine tools to life. You love to collaborate by quickly prototyping new ideas and experiences using pixels, paper, duct-tape, bailing wire, or anything else you can find to help your team quickly stand-up, explore and iterate concepts. You’re an organized, flexible, and motivated self-starter, comfortable working in short iterations, providing insights and view constraints as opportunities. Entrepreneurial at heart, you are always seeking to improve existing things and identify new opportunities. You have a track record of working in diverse environments and, ideally, on successful early to emerging-stage projects. You must be comfortable working with projects that are evolving quickly.

You have at least 8 years experience working to bridge the often conflicting creative and technical demands that teams face building new products and tools. Your portfolio shows you’ve shipped engaging, successful products with a strong narrative, on a variety of platforms (desktop, mobile, game consoles, etc), including at least 3+ on iOS/Android (or equivalent experience as a Film TD with some GPU experience). Your portfolio demonstrates great problem solving craft and that you are well versed in either design, UX, game production, and/or computer graphics, as well as their respective limitations. The ideal portfolio/reel shows you have:
    • Strong content creation methods and techniques, interactive and/or game engine architectural knowledge with expertise in at least 4 of the following: Unity, UX systems, HTML, VFX systems, motion graphics, LOD’s or procedural systems
    • Strong working knowledge of at least one relevant scripting language such as (Python, Perl or Mel) and familiarity with React, Swift, C, C++ or C#
    • Experienced working with most current UI prototyping tools (i.e. Sketch, Figma, Balsamiq, XD, etc.) A basic understanding of non-linear editing software (Final Cut Pro, Premier, etc.) and ideally, a working knowledge of a compositing package (Nuke, After Effects, etc.)
    • Ability to remain faithful to project’s creative direction regardless of style, technology, platform or user demographics
    • Strong ability to analyze hard problems and work iteratively to quickly explore many concepts in rough prototype form, and learn new skills and tools on the job

(These describe what we think might be the right person for this role. We don’t expect every candidate to have all of these. The most important thing is that you have a broad toolbox, a flexible mind and can work quickly to explore, iterate and improve ideas on target platforms, regardless of where an idea comes. And you love to learn. You must love to learn.)

The ideal candidate has a Bachelors in Industrial Design, Game Design, UX, Engineering, Physics or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in B2B environments, healthcare or other regulated sectors, is a plus, but so is experience in rich emotionally-driven consumer interfaces such as game design, theme parks, location based entertainment, or high-end retail.

This is a contract position with the possibility of a converting to a full time role. You must reside in the USA and while we are working virtually, the ideal candidate will be located within commuting distance of Palo Alto, Chicago or Atlanta. Please e-mail your resume or LinkedIn link, and reel/portfolio to AI_design_recruit@edgeconsulting.com with the subject UX Tech Designer to be considered for this position.
