I have a "sun" object that has a material with a self-illuminating shader which I think is the ideal shader the use. I was wondering if there was anyway to retain the detail in the model, however. I have created a geometric shape to use as the sun but when I play the scene, all detail is lost and it is just a bright yellow hexagon. Any ideas on how I can remedy this?

    Thanks!

Try switching to an unlit shader?

I would like to still self-illuminate if possible because it would be unrealistic for the sun to receive a light source or be lit externally.

Thats exactl what the unlit shade is for. It just ignores all the light and shows the texture that you provided without any change.
