    Hello everyone,
I have been thinking about writing a program for Unity's Scripting languages lately, however I have been hung up on finding a name for it. The program I'm thinking about will be an editor for all four (4) of Unity3d's scripting languages: JavaScript, C#, Boo and Shader Language. It will also have some nice features like file compression and language conversion. But for now, back to the name. My first thought was UEdit, for Unity Editor, but it turns out that a few programs have already taken that name.

So, what I would like is for you, the programmers (or scripters, if your prefer) of Unity, to help me out by letting me know what you think would be a good name for the program. The name will need to not have been already taken by another program, and preferably have a nice sounding abbreviation.

    Thanks in advance,

    - WolfShield

Wow cool. Another editor coming. As for the name i think i would go for something like USE. Unity Scripting Editor. Or something more fanciful if you prefer.

    Thanks guys,
I had thought of USE: Unity Script Editor, but I believe that is what they call the default script editor in Unity. Am I wrong? iScript, what would the 'i' stand for?

    Again, thanks,

I guess the iscript i would stand for the user, ie I script, or you can use u-script, u for the user, or unity... lol

    Thanks guys,

IScript: It sounds a little to Mac Exclusive (as already mentioned).

EUSE (Enhanced Unity Script Editor): I like that one.
EMUSE (Enhanced Modified Unity Script Editor): A little long, nothing was really modified, and EUSE works fine. :)

WScripter: A nicer ring to it than IScript.

UDSM (User Defined Script Modifier): Not so much user defined.

Unscribe: Unity Script ... having a little trouble with the 'be' part. Other than that I like it.

The program I am thinking about would be a code editor for Unity's four languages (JavaScript, C#, Boo, Shader Language), and would have a few features that make scripting a little easier (e.g. AutoComplete (IntelliSence), Auto-Indention, Parenthesis / Bracket Pairing, Code Conversion, etc.)

Thanks for the ideas, and I would love to hear some more. :)

    Sincerely,

    - WolfShield

Are you going to write it as an Unity plugin or as an independent app?

    "Unscript" sounds cool

    Unfortunately,
    UScript is already taken.

I am planing on making it an independent application.
    And 'Unscript' DOES sound cool!

    Alright,
So, the top four (4) names are:

    Wolf IDE
    EUSE (Enhanced Unity Script Editor)
    Unscript (Unity Scripter)
    Unitor (Unity Script Editor)

    So,
    What are your guys' votes?

    Thanks,

Maybe you can set up a poll for us to vote and easier to keep track. But i love the name Wolf IDE since it's unique to the creator and well it just sounds powerful like a wolf.

Voted wolf ide, but if it were me I would use EMU ... WTH that stands for is left as an exercise for the reader ... Then you have a funky mascot indicated by the name. Wolf IDE seems a bit immature to me .... But otoh, you could go with a play on wolf die, perhaps WIDE or something? Anyhow just my thoughts ... Good luck.
