    Hi,

I'm new to Unity and new to this forum. I don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but here goes ...

When I debug and go to my scene view to move my gamecharacter with the arrow keys, it moves the view instead. I opened an older version of the project and I don't have that problem. Restarting Unity didn't help either.
    Any ideas?

    thanks.

Nobody? Is my question not clear or am I the only 1 ever to have this problem with the sceneview?
Really could use some help here.

Have you tried picking the Move tool (second tool on the toolbar, next to the hand) and selecting your player object, before you press the arrow keys?

Tried. Play/debug the game, go to scene view, click the select/move tool, select the character. I can then pick up the character and move it about. But the arrow keys still make the view move and do not make the character walk like in the game view.
Deleted the ProjectSettings and userprefs but didn't fix it.

I don't think I've ever seen arrow keys controlling movement of an object in the Scene View.

Is it possible that previously you had both Scene and Game views open (on separate screens, or side-by-side, or w/e), and the Game view still had focus, so you were technically moving the character in the Game view but seeing the results in the Scene view?

I think you're right. I've even restored my OSX to a date when I just installed Unity and it gives the same result. It must have been side-by-side view which made me believe I did it in scene view. So many new things I've seen to absorb since I started Unity last week.
Thanks for taking your time to set things straight. Or else I would have kept trying forever.

This happen with me and I figure out. This problem does not happen with pen tools, but with mouse. To fix this if you use windows, go to Control panel> Hardware>Mouse>buttons> Double-click speed and choose fast speed. That will prevent to slow mouse pick mode to a fast mode. The problem is that in editor the mous slow downs double click this make the mouse stuck in the mode orbit.

Happened to me too but in my case it went back after I manually clicked on the move tools in the hotbar.
