    I recently got a project from a friend, I am going to help him with it. I upgraded the project to using the new light weight render pipeline and all the materials went pink. no worries i thought. so i updated all the materials to use the new shader type and all looked good. next time I re-loaded the editor everything was pink in the scene view, but in the game window it's ok.

    looking into it, I've made a new material, i went to add the Lightweight render Lit shader to it and it is to be found under Failed to Compile list.

    I'm sure this is the key. why are the lightweight render shaders failing to compile

    I've got no idea what's going on.

    adding the lightweight render pipeline asset (which was newly created) to the slot in the graphics tab is what makes everything go pink. i still cannot work out why the shaders would not be compiling

    Hey ran into this today, for me it was an issue with a hidden shader.
    For me this occurred on the CopyDepth.shader file.

    I had to overwrite the changes when I opened it up.

    The #include is not correct it should match what this repo has in line 21
    #include "Packages/com.unity.render-pipelines.lightweight/Shaders/Utils/CopyDepthPass.hlsl"

    You're an actual legend, I've been beating my head against a wall trying to figure out where I was going wrong.
