Runtime dropdown?

Hello. I'm trying to find a dropdown component I could use in runtime, not in editor. While the "DropdownMenu" does derive from UnityEngine, and not UnityEditor, it is not a descendant of VisualElement, and so I'm having a hard time adding it to my visual tree. I'm trying to wrap my head around it, do we actually not have a usable runtime dropdown element, every example I find deals with editorwindows etc.? Do I have to make one of the most basic often required UI controls, a dropdown, myself? Or am I missing something here?

 

Hi! I'm also stucked with this. The documentation is super confusing with most of the samples coming for the editor version. And why don't they have documentation about how to use the controls referenced in the API? how's this https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/c...tyEngine.UIElements.DropdownMenu.html#methods supposed to be used?

 

I was about to post asking the same question. Wondering if a runtime drop down is on the roadmap...? I'd rather use a built in control rather than build my own and replace it later.

 

Any ETA? We kind of need it already, I would really like to know if it's worth waiting.

I created my own runtime dropdown that builds on Unity's DropdownMenu class.

It supports a multitude of different use cases.

7 months have passed and still no dropdowns in runtime. Surely it can be done and fully tested way quicker than that.

Dropdown is there in 2021.2 at least (for runtime)

 

DropdownField also exists in 2020.3, I was searching a while because the editor control is called PopupField...
