(This Thread will be updated Weekly / Bi- Weekly with updates)

Hey Everyone. My name is Tyler and im a 3D Environmental Artist who is currently Learning modeling. My Portfolio is located here -> http://tylerlloyd3d.carbonmade.com/ . I've been thinking about this game for a while, and i think its about time i have a go at it.

Runecraft is a Online RPG Third person / First person game, set in medieval times. It will have the freedome of Minecraft (Building) , The Content of Runescape (Quest Skills etc) with the unique-ness of my team.

Most RPG games are about the world in utter chaos. Well not RuneCraft. The main ojective in RuneCraft will be to Level your skills up, Join guilds, Dual Others, Get rich, Make Friends, and above all... Have Fun! There will be many "Secondary" main quest lines, that the player will be involved in, and hopefully fall in love with. Just as Runescape does with their own quest.

At the start, there will be 20 skills to master. More will be added as the game progresses. These skills include : Farming , Mining , Woodcutting , Enchanting , Smithing and Crafting. These are just Six of the 20 skills to master.

There will be numerous guilds to join in Runecraft. These include: Dragon Slayer Guild, Warriors Guild, Farming Guild, Crafting Guild, Cooking Guild, Fishing Guild, Etc etc

Players can also create their own guilds, and go into guild wars for rewards.

Players can also dual other players, for rewards.

Here are some models created for Runecraft (Just basic Wooden Items) Wooden Axe (Handle Texture has changed) $WXCVhpq.png
    Wooden Pickaxe $VnKUCW2.png

    Wooden Shield $J9aLzvd.png

If you want to join the creation of Runecraft, please email me at Asminagames@gmail.com OR Skype me at mellowkoskas for a faster response. Be sure to include what you do, and some work that you have done. I have created a Collab thread, but it has yet to get approved. So once it does, i will update this thread with the link.

Thank you all for your time!

So, if I get to 'make new friends', you're going to have quite a lot of players on each server, right? I only ask because most games with <20 players per game are generally played by people and their friends. So if I can meet new people, are we talking 100,200-1000 people per server? How many players, I don't see this information anywhere. Wow, what a lot of guilds you have named. Why does a world need so many? How do cooking and fishing guilds participate in your guild wars? I would like to have more information on these other than their names.

If it's like minecraft, but with a lot of people online, how will building work? Can anybody knock down my house? Can I build my house anywhere? Will the block aesthetic be incorporated into this game? Will this look good with runescape-style weapons, which aren't blocky? (No, unless you do something very unique it will just look jarring). Why first person and Third person? Why is this needed, and why are you sure it will benefit the game? Runescape is third person so you can see more of the area around you, and because everything would look crappy up close. Minecraft is first person because you need to be able to see where you're placing your blocks. This would be horrible to do in third person.

How much of the server side/ back end networking have you got working? What package are you using? How much of the gameplay is done? How much art is done? I would like to know more about what is done, what is being implemented currently, and what hasn't been started yet. How do you plan on accommodating lots of players? What's your budget? Will this budget allow for a huge online game? What timescale are you going for? Most online games take years for hundreds of talented, professional people to create.
What rewards do I get if I kill a player or enter a guild war? Can building also be used in the guild wars?

Good on you if you prove me wrong and you have all the server stuff handled, but currently all I see is a bunch of words where you named guilds, said the game will be great because of the 'uniqueness of my team' (?) and posted a few pictures. You've dug yourself a hole by naming aaaall these guilds and 'mechanics' but haven't planned out how they work with one another. You haven't credited your unique team, if there are other people involved, they might be a bit miffed about that. If nobody else is involved currently, then.. Well I guess that is a 'unique' team. Currently this thread is like almost all the other MMO or multiplayer threads, where they name concepts, put up a few pictures but have no gameplay or networking setup. You'll need x100 the amount of info to convince anybody.

Again, if you have all that sorted, fair play, and I apologise, but I'm dubious to say the least. Good luck anyway. It will be interesting to see how far this one goes, or how long it lasts.

I apologize, It's my fault. I didint really explain the game very much, and just skimmed over it. Ill answer all your questions right now. :)

There will be seperate worlds, similar to how Runescape has worlds. These worlds will all have the same things in them, just not have every cluttered into one Giant server. We plan to have the severs hold, at the beginning, about 100 CCU. Of course, this number is very small, and will be increased as the game gets closer to final release.

Yes there are many guilds! We plan to have about 10 - 15 guilds. Guilds will correspond to the skill its created for. Example, The Fishing guild is for the Fishing skill. The Mining Guild, the Mining Skill. Only players with a certain level in that skill can join the guild thats for the skill. So if i had a Mining level of 59, i would need one more level to join the mining guild. Similar to how runescape has it set up. This is to prevent everyone from joining the guilds, and only people who are serious about the skill may join. I also forgot to mention that The guilds created for skills (mining guild and fishing guild) cannot participate in Guild Wars. Only player created guilds can.

Building will work in a seperate scene, that is player created. Again similar to runescape. Players will be able to invite people into the land plot. Players cannot just go into anyones Land plot. Players will be able to take resources gathered from the world, and use those to build there house. So lets say i have 4 wooden logs. I can use those 4 logs, to build a wall. So the economy will be very useful when it comes to building houses. You can also create the "wall item" in a building store, to sell to other players. Instead of carrying the 4 logs. Although building pieces cannot be built anywhere, and it will also be skill that can be leveled. Building will also have its own guild.

We want to make it first person and third person, because not many "mmo's" are first person. Although this could be changed. So its not set in stone. As the combat we want it to be turn based. Like many mmo's. (I hate using the word "mmo" because many use it here in the unity community.)

We plan to have the graphics up to par with most mmos today. So if we choose to keep third person / first person (Which im sure we will), the game will be just as beautiful up close.

None of the server side/ back end network has been coded. We are focusing on art at the moment, so when our team grows, we wont need to be spending alot of time on models and other art. So in turn: None of the coding has been done yet. And nothing has been implemented. We are working on models and such for now.

How much is art is done? 0.05%. Just a couple of skill tools such as a blacksmith hammer, fishing net, hand saw.

Our budget right now is very slim. Soon we will make an indiegogo to recieve some funds, then our budget should increase.

The game time to completion is TBD. But we want an alpha for the game by the middle of 2015. around this time of May.

If in a PvP world, if you kill a player, you will get four of his highest valued items. If you kill a player in a Guild War, you will get a point for your team. Once the game is over, which ever team with the highest score will be rewarded random amounts of gold. Building cannot be used in Guild War

I hope these answered your questions. If you have anymore please let me know! I wont hesitate to answer them. We are very serious about this game, and hope to see it to the end.

It's good to know you've thought about how the mechanics work with one another, at least. I hope it goes well for you and the team! Good luck! Also good that some more information is exposed about the game; good to see a detailed response. I would definitely say you need to get the core multiplayer working though - if that doesn't get going soon the project could deteriorate quickly. Although, again, best of luck with it all :)

That looks pretty sweet :D How are you going to incorporate runescape into minecraft? Do you plan to re-create a world similar to runescape with the same controls but with Minecraft style voxels?
