I want to make fog of war in my game, and I have found some tutorials on this, but none have what I am looking for. Black everywhere until character enters the area Once the character leaves the area, the area becomes gray and you can still see the scenery (trees, grass, buildings, etc.) The area around the character should be feathered around the edges Are there any tutorials out that that I can look at where I can combine these three things? I really like how StarCraft does fog of war, this style is my main goal
We don't do full black for unexplored areas but we do unit LoS with some circle meshes that render to a render texture that we blit into the main camera image. I talked about it here: http://mechanicalmonocle.com/#/blog/post/fog-of-war-implementation
Thanks for the link! I have seen "LoS" before, but can't remember what it stands for, could you please remind me, Google wasn't much help.
