Root motion not working properly with other models. Help?

    You can see two guys I am controlling. The attacks have root motion and they move at equal speed in the beginning.
    If I switch to a different mesh/skeleton all of my root motion animations are about 1/10 of the distance. In the video you can see i'm not even switching the animator and just turning on the skeleton and mesh of another model and that breaks the root motion, when in my mind it should do nothing. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    If anyone runs into this problem.
    The skeleton and mesh was scaled differently than the object with the Animator. I removed the mesh and skeleton to have no parent. I scaled the mesh to 1,1,1. and readded it to the parent object with the animator, now it works.
