    Hello everyone,
Someday I've thought about Rock Band Manager game.
So, the main idea is : You create a character, who has own music tastes (Rock, Pop, etc) and skills (Charisma, Voice, Instrument Ability, Communication, etc). Then he starts in garage with low amount of money, on this money you can buy instrument and recorder. Record some demos and share them in Social Network or send directly to record labels. The chance of success and quality of song will depend on his skills. If you are succeed you can perform in local music bars or tour in your country or around the world. Character need to be social if he gonna form a band. You can find friends in music bars or on Social Networks.
So, tell me, do you want this game? I can make a larger Design Document then I can start development of the game.
    Cheers, Max.

To me it sounds exactly like Rock Band, but without the most fun part (the actual playing in gigs).

You're right. But Rock Band is about playing the gigs only and there's no careers management in Rock Band.

No, in story mode you choose which gigs to play, what upgrades (vehicles, clothes, practice room, etc.) to buy, make choices that affect your fan base, etc. Between the gigs it's all about playing the band manager.

But I don't want to squash your thunder — the management aspect is definitely secondary in Rock Band. A game where the management is primary might be interesting in its own way.

Thanks, I didn't know about story mode in Rock Band. For me the management is primary target. Getting contracts with record labels, watching charts status, contacting with audience, taking some gigs... etc. I've started making the Design Doc but It will take a while.

I think these kinds of games can be very fun.

It's basically an RPG without combat.

Football Manager games seem pretty popular and they lack the actual playing the sport part.
I don't play music driven games so I can't suggest how this should be compared to Rock Band, but generally I think it should go way beyond what Rock Band offers in it's story mode.
Comparing it to a sports management game, there could be multiple levels of complexity at each level the band progresses through.

Yeah, I can definitely see a game I'd spend money on based on that concept. Modeling the social dynamics between the band members might be interesting, as well as dealing with their tics (of which each decent musician has at least twelve).

Sounds like a good target for an idle game. The genre seems to get plenty of plays. Go for it.

No. This deserves to be an actual game, not a glorified screensaver.

I'm busy with exams up to early June, so I can work with DD only on weekends.

The idea can work, I say. I haven't played 'Rock Band' myself, but I do remember an old band manager game from the Spectrum days:

    Rockstar Ate My Hamster! (
    )

State of the art, that game was, *grins*
