Total noob question here, but I feel like my blender imports look about 100 times better in blender. Is there some resolution setting that by default is downgrading the FBX import? Just the basic Materials maybe with some roughness or metalic, no texture bakes. Not very high poly either. no special lighting, just world lighting in blender to model and single directional skybox in unity. looks cartoonish is comparison? ps. edit, this is in Built in 3D, for WebGl build.and quality setting in project settings is set to Ultra.

I think it's just a lighting thing. In blender the world lighting is just much smoother looking than default skybox in unity. l haven't spent any time on lighting but I know it's one of the most important aspects of visuals in final product. I'm going to have to learn that part next.

If your Blender imports look significantly different in Unity, it could be due to various factors, including differences in rendering engines and default settings. Check for issues like material configurations, shaders, and lighting settings in Unity. Ensure that shaders and materials are set up correctly to achieve the desired visual quality. Experiment with different Unity settings and shaders to match the look you achieved in Blender. It may take some tweaking to get the appearance you want in the Unity WebGL build.

Do you mean your FBX models look much better under the Eevee renderer in Blender?

Eevee is not designed for real-time usage and it still needs offline rendering (samples) to produce maximum quality images.

Make sure your Built-in project uses:
    • Linear color space
    • HDR rendering on
    • Post-processing stack v3 installed (in Package Manager)
    • Tone Mapping on

Eevee also uses offset shadows with accumulation (offline) to improve shadow quality and realism. There're some useful assets that provide PCSS (better shadow in real-time) in Built-in.

Probably all the above. lighting is my biggest weakness in blender and unity. thank you. I have used post processing to get rid of anti aliasing issues, but... that's about it. I'm sure I'm lacking a lot of tweaks there.
