Feedback Remove the needs to define Normal Textures as Normal Maps in the Editor

    Y-hello all,

    as per title, is really necessary to specify that Normal maps textures are in fact normal maps?
    I've seen many ppl forget (I'm one of them most of the time).

    I mean, if I put the normal texture in the Normal map node, can't unity internally say "Hey, this texture is in the normal map node, it must be a normal map!"

    What is the engine doing when we specify Normals? Is it changing how it reads the RGB channels?

    I'm aware it could be a pain to change something that has been set in stone for so many years and versions, but is just a thought for a hoping future :)
