    This looks like perfect solution for my current project. Gotta start saving some cash for instant buy upon release :D :D in the meantime I can look about the documentation and start planning the usage of asset.

    Well, I was thinking if I had to use meshes for the core of the hedge walls for the maze it would be interesting to try placing them around with VS. Besides that I was thinking of using it for fences or other stuff like dirt/dirt and grass mounds (well, I'm working on an outdoors scene right now). But, in general, the idea that I could use VS for other level design purposes was just downing on me (besides small detail props). This is specially so, because I'm working on a VR title and I want to squish as much performance as I can, and instancing/indirect instancing and in some cases billboarding would probably be pretty cool to use on cave walls or other modular pieces which don't need precise snapping (was thinking of a kit like like Underworld: Cave environment). If there was snapping we could probably use it just fine with modular assets (or is there? Sorry, I've just started using VS a few weeks ago so it'll be a while before I master all it can do).

    Is it possible that tree billboard works with wind ?

    Each billboard is made out of 2 triangles. While we could add some movement to the top 2 points in the billboard shader I do not think it will look very good. Also at the distance you use billboards you do not see much wind movement in normal tree meshes either.

    Development update

    I have done some structure changes to the VegetationColorMask component to resolve some problems with large terrains. Memory was building up and Unity could not handle when multiple millions of instances was rendered to the mask. I had been testing on 2000x2000 terrains but when rendering larger terrains with high vegetation density Unity did not like it...

    With some changes I am now rendering the instances using DrawMeshNow and Unity does not add this to the internal cache that was making the problem. Large terrains should have no problems with this approach.

    In addition to this I removed the background settings and applied the same alpha bleeding/padding approach as I am using for the billboard updates.

    This will be in the first update I push to the asset store after release.

    Asset store update.

    Hi.

    I got an email with a couple of small issues that asset store wanted me to change in the package. All the changes is done and I resubmitted for a final review. This normally is fast. Just have to wait and see :)
    On the positive side the first update is now included in the release. The changelog is here.

    NOOOO!!! lol I just overspent my budget on the mega sale thinking it would be closer to the 15th when our Unity payouts come. lol Adding to wishlist. Will grab on the 15th. :)

    Grats on release!

    If anyone is on the fence about this pack, I highly recommend it. My dev machine is subpar on a few levels. The results I saw on my machine during beta were amazing! With how heavy I had vegetation at times, I was surprised I could even move. Lennart has done some amazing work here!

    Yikes !! $75-$95...no doubt worth every penny but imma gonna have to wait on a sale :( That or sell something..anyone need any r/c electric boats ?? lol..:p

    This is a great tool and I was pleased to be a part of the beta.
    Anxious to be able to acquire a license.
    75 dollars is practically free, because this tool does incredible things
    Essential tool for any developer.

    Sorry If this is a dense question, but where does Terra Firma fit into this, was hoping for a small status update on that also with this release? I was not stumbling onto info on the awesome tech site as I had in the past.

    I am also working on Terrafirma with Michael. Vegetation Studio will support this. We are in a process of rewriting some of the core. When this is done I will start posting progress as we get closer to a beta.

    It's super intuitive!

    Hi.

    You can use existing terrains and splatmap direct. Trees can be imported. To get a good result you should set up new procedural rules for grass and plant coverage.

    Congrats on the release, about to purchase. Been using it on my terrains during the beta session while constructing open world environments and it has been amazing. Drastic improvement to FPS while providing for awesome scenes.

    I do use this with CTS and Gaia, makes for an amazing addition to world creation.

    Once again, amazing work @LennartJohansen. Glad to see it finally accepted to the store.

    Great to see it's finally released!
    But I noticed the unity requirement is 5.6.4, is it possible to use it in 5.6.3p2?
    I'm not planning upgrade my unity version in recent.

    I have already bought it!

    This is tree(CTI Jatoba) of "Advanced Foliage Shaders v5" ,
    it seems can not work with wind and billboard in VS ,
    What have I done wrong?

    For AFS shaders you need to add the AFS component to inject wind. I will talk to Lars to set this up automatic.
    Billboards should work.

    Can you send me a PM with the shader inspector?

    Just got the image now. Check the cutoff value on the billbaord setting. On the VegetationItem

    I was very happy to see this is released. I've jumped straight into it.

    Anyway, I'm having a problem with billboards. They don't have an alpha. I tried changing various settings but to no avail.

    BTW, a longer "How to set up Vegetation Studio" video would be helpful.

    EDIT: In trying to track down the issue, I re-imported the demo scene. The billboards looked fine. Then I got a pop-up saying the billboards were not rendered for the current color space and asked me to re-render. They then turned to squares like in the screenshot. I'm using Linear Deferred.

    Could be the same bug. I added some new billboard code to the release today. Could you both send me a copy of the billboard texture on a PM. Getting really late here now. (Norway time). I will look tomorrow

    Ah man, I wish I could grab this! I splurged on Gena and some MicroSplat assets, VS is high priority on the list. Dam mega sale!!! More money more problems right? Well I must be set then xD .... -____-" in due time! I thought the mega sale was on only for a week >.<" . Sorry @LennartJohansen

    Hi Lennart!
    Any roadmap for VS future updates?
    I personally really like to see the integration with MapMagic that can let us export gameobjects, trees, grass directly into VS constant database.
    By the way, how many instances can one constant database manage?
    And how do I save and load the constant database?

    The billboard System is broken in the current release!
    Too bad!
    Lennart please - please - please fix this problem quickly.

    We've all waited so long for this really great system and now we can't use it for production!

    I am a bit disappointed, surprised and angry!:(:eek::mad:

    1. I will make a roadmap and publish here and on the website in a few days.
    2. I have talked to Denis about making a output node in MapMagic. The API in VS is ready for this. I will have a talk with him and make a plan.
    3. You can drag and drop the package in the inspector or use the SetPersistentVegetationStoragePackage function on the PersistentVegetationStorage component.
