    Universal Sound FX
    Multi-purpose high quality sound effects library containing thousands of sound effects ultimately suitable for any game genre.

    Royalty Free
    Affordable royalty free sound effects for commercial games and for rapid prototyping of new ideas.

    Evolving Library - Free Updates
    Quality and game genre coverage improves with asset updates over time. Price goes up so buy now - updates are free!

    Status: 13 September 2016 - Version 1.4 Released (765 new sound effects added)

    Early Price: $40 (increases over time)

    Universal Sound FX (USFX) is a sound effect library designed for independent game developers. The library contains a wide variety of sound effects suitable for many game genres. The sound effects can be used royalty free in commercial games and are also suitable for rapidly prototyping new game ideas (use as place holders or keep them for your final release.)

    Current version contains 5018 categorized 16 bit 44.1kHz WAV files (stereo and mono depending on suitability). The sounds are game-ready and have been optimized in length to reduce size of game distributions. The sounds are free of any clipping, always start/end at volume 0 to avoid any clicks or pops, and looping sounds are seamless. Each sound is named appropriately and also has asset labels to allow quick search within Unity.

    USFX is in the “Early Release” phase which is also reflected by the price - many sound categories and game genres are yet to be covered. The ultimate goal is for USFX to become the most versatile library around covering as many game genres as possible. Being an early customer rewards you with free updates of this library as it matures.

    Early Release Bonus: The VOICE and MUSIC EFFECT categories are included as bonus sounds in the Early Release. These will later be removed and released as larger separate individual libraries to give room for the widened range of game genres in USFX.

    You can see a full listing of sound effects on the http://www.universalsoundfx.com.

    Just from watching the videos, seems like a nice collection to add to the archives, so I picked it up as well. Somehow, I get this feeling that I might lose a few hours just playing the sound effects back to see what all is in there, grin.

    Look forward to seeing how it grows over time.

    Thanks for the feedback and comments!

    I've started to add requests to the second reserved post in this thread. I'll try to go through and update and use the second post to comment on any progress on the new sounds.

    Please feel free to add additional requests! Some will be more difficult to fulfill like certain animal sounds for example. Saying that I'm planning to contact both the local farms as well as a safari park a couple of hours drive from here... but that takes some planning to do.

    great collection, probably the best organisation of sounds I've seen so far, nice price (bought it first day it was out ;)

    My current project is sci-fi themed, so for me following sounds ware very useful:

    - explosions
    - thrusters
    - robotic
    - UI

    Less useful:

    - sci-fi weapons. I was looking for more futuristic automatic-fire blaster sounds.
    (but then again, I have some specific sounding in mind, so it's not fault of the lib it doesn't have one)

    What I'm missing:

    - more bullet impact sounds; currently there is only one bullet-on-metal impact (which is great BTW)
    - force field power up / shut down sounds (I'm using transformer up / down sound right now, which is a bit over the top for the task)

    BTW, I've also discovered your XXL music packages - wow, really nicely organized kits with some great music in them!
    Want to try to build a dynamic music background for my project out of them, so will definitely buy some.

    By the way I purchased through your site because I wanted to avoid importing all the sounds into my project (could take a long time). How are updates handled in this case? I noticed I just got a download link.

    Oh I just read the pdf included in the package. Here's what it says, for other folks interested in buying through the site but worried about updates:

    I'm guessing its whatever link is tied to the email you used to buy the sounds? The only problem I see is with things like paypal, I just actually updated my email account there so my purchase got made with the old email I use. Would be nice to have some sort of login into the site or a profile later so we could change that sort of thing :)

    But anyways, looks like there should be no fear of buying through the site. Should get updates as well :)

    Thanks guys!

    The website uses "SendOwl" to deliver content and once the library has been updated a new download link will be issued to all who purchased in the past. The download links will be valid for a long time but can only be used a few times to avoid a link being spread illegaly. As mentioned above, this mail will go to the paypal-address used during purchase so I'll investigate the option to subscribe to update mails and also to change the e-mail address (I need to investigate the SendOwl API for this.) I will have the transaction ID so anyone who can refer submit that ID (manually or if I develop a feature on the site) will be provided with updates. I can also manually change the e-mail address registered in SendOwl upon request so all future mails will go to another email address.

    It's also worth noting that the AssetStore version has asset labels for all the sound effects where as the one on the site is a zip file of WAV-files without any Unity asset labels. The asset labels are useful for quick search within Unity. Then again, if you plan to only selectively import sounds to keep the project size down, the asset labels aren't really needed so the site-version should do fine.

    Thanks for the feedback uds, I've added your requests to the list!

    A question

    Since the music samples are only for a limited ammount of time, is it advised to download the pack right away and keep this version for the music ?

    Is there a planned date for the removal ?

    I am so busy with work and the Particle Dynamic Magic v1.2 preparation that i have not actually used any of the many packs i have bought recently (some because i dont have Pro yet :) ) and i might download the pack much later

    Ideally I would have liked to keep all the music effects and voices in the pack forever, but the asset store has a size limit which you first encounter at 500 MB. I believe there are some exceptions and I hope I'm allowed to grow this asset to 1 GB and beyond. So, since Music effects and Voices take up a considerable amount of space I will likely have to remove them and release those as separate assets - they are a bonus for early buyers since there is much yet to cover in terms of "normal" sound effects. I'll post notification in this forum thread before any updates to give a headsup.

    The best way to guarantee that you keep all sounds would be to download the asset now and archive it somewhere on your harddrive. I am ofcourse human too so if you lose them you can contact me :)

    The aim for Universal Sound FX is to be a very versatile sound library to cover most situations of prototyping and creation of indiegames in general. When a category becomes crowded I will release specialist packages, e.g. a whole asset dedicated just to energy weapons, or cars. So USFX may have 2 car engine sounds while a specialist car library may have 30 car engines from inside / outside perspectives and so forth. It's to keep the size manageable and someone developing a car game may feel it's worth a separate investment to get a much wider selection of sounds in that particular genre.

    Why not follow a similar methodology as that used by Space for Unity? That is, make a new project for only the Universal Sound FX library which you can use to preview and find the sounds you want to use in your project. Them export only the sounds you want for use in your project, saving storage space and time.

    I bought the zipfile from his site for that very purpose :)

    I also wanted to make sure he got 100% profits from his package, since it really is a very good deal and I'd like to see the collection expand.

    Just bought your asset and it's great!

    Got two requests:
    1) Could we get more electric style force fields, maybe cartoonish?
    2) More power ups would also be great!

    I think some hurt, tired, effort, death and generic player noises would be nice. Would be very useful for providing feedback when a player/npc performs actions.

    Some ideas:

    -Hurt
    -Die
    -Scared (for horror games and the like, akin to Amnesia)
    -Effort noises (running, pushing/pulling, swinging heavy things like swords or clubs)

    Also definitely wouldn't mind more bass heavy/meaty gun sounds!

    Could you add more grunts/arghs and other sounds men and women do when in minor/medium/major pain? Also more extensively of the "please stop it"/"stop" stuff. Perhaps more girly/boyish sounds if that would be possible.

    High quality assets from this guy, would recommend.

    Regards

    Edit: my post just seem so wrong without the context...

    Hi,

    just some requests :)

    - Acid sounds (Splat/Burning/ kind of weapon fire)
    - Bullettime sound effects ( example @1:35 when Trinity jumps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u31OjOPF-ZI and secondary effect when she kicks the chair)
    - less bored sounding female voice ;)

    Regards

    Thanks - will aim to get more variations for all of those! Thanks for suggesting. Adding it to my list.

    Yes, I'll probably keep the two asset in line with eachother.

    I managed to record a police helicopter as it was hovering over our area in the night and it stayed pretty long searching for something so I got a fair amount of source material. As it slowly passed over my head it felt like it went even slower past me and I bet their infrared camera zoomed in on me wondering what a weirdo was aiming a 60cm long pistol grip microphone at their helicopter. I've finished 6 flyby helicopter sounds and 8 seamless helicopter loops to add in the next update.

    Sure, I'll add more variations. I plan to get quite a few additional voices once I finish building a recording room in my garage.

    Thanks for the suggestions. How do you want the bullet-time effect, as separate slow down - looping bullet time - and wind up effects? I just played around with it and I'll be able to add similar sounds.

    Please let me know a bit more how you imagine the acid sounds.

    Many more voices will be recorded but they won't fit in USFX due to size limitations so look out for separate voice packs later on. Grunts and hurt sounds will probably always be part of USFX though.

    Keep the suggestions coming and thanks for buying and supporting the asset!

    I'd like to have a small suite of over-the-top impact sounds that are not related to materials.

    Basically, let's imagine some god, demon, or super being is hitting things. The objects that are actually clashing against each other might be of a variety of materials - wood, flesh, metal, stone - but the identity of the materials is unimportant information. In this instance, no listener cares. What's important is the variety of strike sounds that show how powerful the strikes are. So the sounds are abstract notions of WHAM, KRAK, BAM, KRUNCH, BOOM, KA-RACK, etc. And these would be essentially short sounds, like a simple punch, kick, handclap / slap, slash ... but made epic.

    I don't know what audio factors would go into making these, but I'd guess distortions and echoes and deepening of pitch might be ways of adding a sense of mass, velocity, and shockwaves. Like ... you could record hitting a desk top with your hand and also with a heavy book, add distortions and echoes to the sounds, then merge them ... and that might make a rich but unidentifiable strike sound. Maybe record slapping water and add echo to turn it into a "super slap" or "super jab" sound. Then strike the water with an empty plastic jug to get a WHOMP sound, and drop the pitch on it. Take a paper bag and whip it through the air to get a nice KRAK sound that could be modified. Go to a dumpster and slam the lid. And so on. The main thing is to get an epic impact sound that is distinct, but where you cannot identify the items or materials involved.

    Hi there!

    I really like your package. It's cool to have one big library to choose from.

    As a request, I'd like to recommend wooden/metal treasure chest open and close sounds.

    Bye!

    One type of sound effect I'd like to see is looping sci-fi engines, like for space ships and hover vehicles.

    I've attempted a few myself, with varying degrees of success. The closest to a usable one I've come up with so far involved mixing a bunch of sounds together, including a vacuum cleaner, a dryer from an automatic carwash, a messed up DVD player, and some electronic sounds. It's not bad, but when changing the pitch it sort of sounds like, well, a vacuum cleaner. :)

    Just bought this from the website, and it is awesome ^^ Also here's some requests

    -Zombie sounds, i'm thinking something like in The Walking Dead the tv show ^^
    -More footsteps like walking on metal surface, wood, gravel, and grass :)
    -Forest ambience with singing birds.

    First update of Universal Sound FX is approaching and the following sounds are ready to be added:

    * Charge up/downs + sci-fi loops (36 sounds)
    * Elevator loop (1 sound)
    * Engine loops (2 sounds)
    * Helicopter Flyby (3 sounds)
    * Helicopter Loops (7 sounds)
    * Generic Impacts (17 sounds)
    * Machine loop (1 sound)
    * Magic Spells (50 sounds)
    * Space charge up warps and jumps (45 sounds)
    * Time Warp / Bullet Time Stop / Star (12 sounds)
    * Tools (5 sounds)

    ...hopefully these can be added without hitting any form of size restriction for assets.

    The price will go up to $20 with this update so hurry up if you haven't got it yet :)

    Thanks for update and warning of price increase (which I believe is fully justified). Has pushed this from my wish list in to buy.

    The limit for assets I believe is 2Gb and was changed a few months ago. Protofactor an asset store seller has an asset with 2Gb download.

    Awesome! Thanks for the fast update, lucky that police chopper was around :D

    Also, like Sampa has suggested, more footstep sounds would be great! The current footsteps sound great, and if you had footsteps to cover all surfaces I think that would really add a lot of value to the pack!

    I'd love to have more monster sounds (hurt, roar, grunts, death, etc.). Different types of monsters like small goblins, larger creatures (orcs, trolls, etc.) and huge creatures like dragons, titans, etc.

    Hi imphy. Fantastic pack! I'm already seeing so much I can use, especially the sci-fi stuff like the mech, electricity and robot sounds (explosions are awesome as well). Would love to see things like:

    * Ambient earth rumbling or rock fracturing noises (could serve for earthquake, volcano, landslide) - distant and close if possible
    * Varieties of wind, especially howling
    * Hard sleeting rain
    * Rumbling thunder
    * Lightning
    * Steam vents / geysers (sustained or hisses)
    * Hail (maybe hitting ground, wood or metal)
    * Fire (campfire, bonfire, roaring inferno)
    * Dripping water in cave
    * Radio static / crackling
    * Metal rending or being torn or ripped away
    * Chains clinking
    * Various vent vans, from small whirring to slow, rhythmic sounds of large building turbines
    * Footfalls on gravel, metal, mud
    * Skittering gravel or falling pebbles or rocks (as if before falling off a cliff)
    * Vehicle sounds - Engines start/stop/revving/idling for heavy trucks, vans, quads, motorbikes
    * Traffic - Distant, close
    * Ambient, indistinct human chatter possibly suitable for a cafeteria or bar
    * Train/subway station sounds
    * Medical equipment (respirator, cardiac heart monitor)
    * Smoother elevator / lift sounds - maybe like a magnetic hiss?
    * Scanner scanning - Not sure what this would sound like :D
    * More subtle alert tones similar to "fasten seatbelt" on airliner or "door closing" on subway

    Thanks! The suggestions and request are very much appreciated. I've added them to post #2 in this thread and will be working off that list for future updates.

    This is so brilliant!!!! Thanks for this. Got a lot of Textures and this stuff, but had all the time a lack of sounds. As i saw your package it was an instant buy for me. Thanks again!

    If you want some input for further sounds, I have some. Working right now on some kind of Simulation game. I would love to have some Aircraft sounds ( 1 - multi Propeller, jet, Startup sounds) and other vehicle like boat (disel of a small fishing boar or a big boat) . Also some lumberwork sounds (saw, chainsaw, lumbermill) would be awsome :).

    Since I didn't crawl through all the sounds that are included, it could be, that I mentioned something which is already inside the package.

    Again, cool package and thanks for it. Will bring up a review for you!

    Thank you for the generic impact sounds! I'm still looking for something a little more resonant-sounding, but these give me something to start with as I can use them for any impact.

    Thanks!

    Thanks! Close up aircraft and different vehicle engine sounds take a lot of planning and contacts to get by - but if this asset maintains popularity I'll be able to schedule on-location recording sessions (which costs both time and money.) What you are after are all in my roadmap to gather for future updates :)

    Cool - do you need them longer? If you can link to similar sounds I can probably add more for next update =)

    Whey - first time I've received this comment! I've seen it on twitter for cool stuff so I'm happy with that one!

    I was the one that had requested some sci-fi engine / hover vehicle loops, so thanks for including those! For NPC vehicles flying around the game world, it might be cool to also have some higher pitched ones. I haven't tried these new ones in my game yet, so they may work OK, though I suspect the lower end sounds might be difficult to hear and/or localize in surround sound.

    Good idea! I'll do a little research and send you a PM.
