[RELEASED] Ultimate Character Controller (UFPS 3 / Third Person Controller 3)

    The base structure of the controller hasn't really changed from version 2 to 3 so it's considered a major upgrade and the reviews transfer.
    Thank you for your previous support. There have been a countless number of publishers who have left the Asset Store because they found that it's not a sustainable business model for them. Paid updates help make the business model more sustainable. By having paid updates it should actually increase the trust in our products because we are taking the numbers into account and are not planning on abandoning support for our products.

    With that said, I also understand not wanting to update. If you have a project that is far along then there's no reason to switch. Version 2.4.9 was just released and the number of bug fixes has significantly slowed down. Version 2.4.9 is stable and will still be supported to the end of the year.

    Is the 50% off for existing customers a fixed thing for this upgrade?

    i see no mention of networking. We want to use this on a multiplayer game. Do you have any kind of support for Fusion for instance?

    We will be updating the PUN add-on to support version 3 this month. There are a couple of people working on other networking integrations and Fusion is being talked about. I don't expect that to be available this year though.

    PUN is almost declared obsolete by Photon itself already for a while. Fusion is where they focus now.

    Do other integrations still work for version 3? Such as A* Pathfinding, Agility packs, etc...

    Compared to a new implementation the PUN add-on won't take too much to get going again so it still makes sense to update. I haven't had a chance to look at the Fusion API yet to see what it will take to implement.

    Version 3.0.1 of the character controller is being released. You can see what has changed on this page. This update brings back a lot of integrations:

    Is getting "third person controller" and ultimate Fps the same as getting Ultimate character controller? if so, it's a bit cheaper to get them separately right now :)

    Hola. Tengo un problema simple pero me esta volviendo loco. No puedo hacer andar "F". Ni en la demo, ni en otros proyectos. Cual podrìa ser el problema por el cual no interactua con los demas objetos de las escenas?. Desde ya ,uchas gracias. Excelente controlador.

    I created a character just like in the video on Yt "Third Person Character Creation". I would like to rotate the camera with the mouse using the right-mouse button and dragging the mouse. How do I set that up?

    Version 3 now has integration with FPS Mesh Tool and Master Audio again. The FPS Mesh Tool integration is included with the FPS Mesh Tool package and didn't need any changes. The Master Audio integration can be downloaded on the Downloads page.

    I will try to get it done this month. I opened up the project as a test and there weren't too many compiler errors for the v3 switch so I think that it's doable.

    The updated Agility Pack has been released on both the Opsive Store and Asset Store! This version requires version 3 and it does not work with the legacy version of the character controllers.

    Version 3.0.5 of the character controllers has been released. You can see what is included on this page. The following new integrations were added:
    • Dialogue System for Unity
    • Puppet Master
    • Quest Machine
    • RayFire
    This release is also the base version for the updated Deathmatch AI Kit.

    The PUN Multiplayer Add-On for version 3 of the character controllers has been released on both the Opsive Store and Asset Store! This version requires version 3 (which was just released) and it does not work with the legacy version of the character controllers.

    Hello I wanted to ask something.
    Basically PhysicsScenes have their own raycasts, but dont have NonAlloc versions.
    For the sake of PhysicsScenes (my project is based on them) i had to change the asset's ray/sphere/capsule casts (Including non-alloc) to physicsscene version.
    From what ive read NonAlloc are faster and im worried about performance now though I havent compared it yet.
    Do you think It will cause huge performance loss relatively to the asset in its original state (with non-alloc raycasts in certain places)?

    I also wanted to ask what are the biggest difference between ThirdPersonController and the UltimateCharacterController?
    Both the Unity Store and your webpage seem to list mostly the same features for both assets, so ive been struggling to tell the difference.

    Hello -

    The character controller uses non-alloc versions of the casts so there's no performance hit after the initial structures have been allocated and cached.

    The only difference is that the Ultimate Character Controller contains a first person view type whereas the Third Person Controller is restricted to a third person view.

    The Climbing Pack for version 3 of the character controllers has been released on both the Opsive Store and Asset Store! This is a free upgrade for all existing purchases.

    Ho all! has anyone used the new 3.0 for VR yet? (oculus or open XR) The old 2.x stuff was a bit buggy with the inputs....

    Unfortunately version 3 does not support VR out of the box and we currently do not have any plans on updating the VR add-on for version 3.

    Definitely. I know of a pretty large title being developed using the controller and they are using the moving platform system to move the character within a space ship. They created their own abilities for moving outside the ship with no gravity.

    thats good i was about to purchase

    SCSM
    Sticky3D Controller and the

    SCSM
    Sci-Fi Ship Controller, only so that the player could fly the ship, cant belive how quick you have replied.

    I haven't used either of those assets but it looks like Sticky3D Controller is a character controller. The Ultimate Character Controller is its own independent character controller so it won't work with the Sticky3D Controller. The ship controller should work though, in the worst case you'll need a new ability depending on what aspects you want to change but overall the Ultimate Character Controller is built for this sort of thing.

    That's what I was thinking, well after you timely responses I will be purchasing your controller, I believe a product is only as good as how good customer service is and you customer service is 10 out 10.

    I have an issue where if I place the "look at body weight" to 1, and have my first-person camera anchored to my head, it moves unexpectedly. Especially noticeable when looking down.

    I have been away from Unity for years, many dev's have had to go to a Upgrade\type to be able to keep
    doing this and feed the family at the same time. I understand and get this.. one of the main reasons I left was programming issues. So I was not around Unity at all when UCC deprecated the asset and made a new one..,
    all find and dandy, but when I click that if I have this I can get the upgrade " here " I get the impression it was
    going to be a free upgrade to " current " users , IE: the people that have already given you money. But when I click on the link it only take me back to my assets, I am not sure the link is working as it might be broken.

    This is just imho, having decided I am going to do this.. I am cutting out as much Social media and electronic anything \everything out of my life, as possible. Social media is corrosive and too much is not good for you. Too much jumbled information " tidal waves " leaves most minds not sure what to do because the incoming information is too much to sift through for a biological mind.

    This is me saying too much social media is not good, that said, I am limiting my environmental ( electronics bubble ) of having to be in situations I find can contribute to anxiety, tension, etc .. why. If a publisher is selling in the asset store and it is a coded asset ( much more work, to do, since it is engine specific ( Unity ) I feel for me, I want to be able to contact them here, if they are unwilling to do that for any reason, no problem, I have the choice to go along or not.

    Edit: And of course, if you are looking for or needing something very special , that you think the asset can do, then, if they provide an outside support page, then by all means, don't be a Di*K either, go look and do a word search for what you need.

    ( the probability is that, the question you have, has probably been asked before, and taking a coding dev's time to re-answer ) the same questions, is taking time away from you, in the sense, that the dev is spending the time re-saying things instead of coding, which does not help you or others in the long run, including the dev. )

    Which page do you see the link on? The upgrade from UCC 2 to version 3 is 50% of the cost of the full version. If you purchased it within 3 months of the UCC 3 release (in October of last year) the upgrade is free. All of the add-ons have a free upgrade.

    I have been away for years, a three month ( time to act ) meant nothing to me because I was no where around this for years.. I quit Unity years before 2020 till the last 3 weeks about.. it says click here but the link does not do anything, i will take a snip now to show ..     Thank you!, this link does work. ;-) Unfortunately, I don't really need this now, But I will say
    100% if you need a 3d or first person controller. This movement controller asset, from this developer, it is a very good complete system, deserving of more than 5 stars.
