Is this asset optimized for mobile? Great work by the way.

    Hi!

@Lanre Apologies for late reply. I'm afraid the package isn't optimized for mobile devices nor was tested on any as it wasn't made with them in mind.
    ----------------------------------------------

Free content update is now released adding 21 new models including 8 new trees (birch and pine) and 13 waterplants!

The package now features total of 79 meshes, here is a full list of content:
    • 10 tileable terrain textures ranging from 512 to 1024 resolution with specular map stored in alpha channel
    • 13 tree models: 8 pine trees and 2 deciduous, 3 birch trees; ranging from 400 to 1100 polygons
    • 13 terrain detail meshes like grass, bushes and flowers with vertex alpha for proper wind support
    • 53 prop models such as mushrooms, rocks, fences, water plants, tent, campfire, bridge, waterfalls
    • 2 particle effects: water splash and fire
    • ready to go prefabs with configured collisions and lighting settings where necessary
Additionally the new trees should have less negative performance impact as bark and branches use the same texture and material, on the screenshot below there is over a hundred of trees:

That would be all for now, stay tuned for future updates!

It's beautiful! However, I cannot place trees on my terrain like other trees. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks

I know this is almost two months old and you only have one post, but just in case anyone else picks up this package and wants to place the trees on a terrain.

Currently the trees are a gameobject consisting of two gameobject meshes (wood and the leaves). You need to combine the meshes (your own script of a third party asset. I used Simple Mesh Combiner.) and set the shader to one of the Nature shaders. Unity documentation says these trees need to be placed in a special folder called Ambient-Occlusion.

Once you've done all that, you can add them to a Unity Terrain as a Tree object for painting and wind.

    Hi,

Apologies for not answering in this topic, I have answered to Baolocdo in an email, but I should've posted here as well.

Terrain-compatible trees will be added very soon, but in the meantime you can do what Acissathar proposed, or instead of using scripts you can merge meshes in Blender (source .fbx files are included in Meshes/Source folder) and export the model to Ambient-occlusion folder.

    Kind regards,
    Ferum

We'd like to make sure Landscape Builder is compatible with your product - it looks so good. We could provide an automated solution for your trees in with the mesh placement feature of LB if that helps.

did anyone use this pack for a vr game yet? Im looking for a asset pack for a htc vive game and was wondering if this pack looks good in vr? Are you using the standard shader or custom shaders?

Do you have any licence rules- for example, can this asset be used for commercial use or only personal. If it can be used for commercial, what requirements do you have for those who do use it for that reason?

Can anyone tell me how this pack looks top-down? All the screenshots I've seen are first person perspective.

Also has the placement issue been fixed? I plan to use Gaia for automatic initial tree placements so if that won't work, it would be a big deal for me.

Hi, just got the asset, it is beautiful :) A question tho: are normal maps in the plans? Especially for terrain textures?

I bought this asset and integrated it easily into my game.

The only issue is that the trees do not sway with the wind as the grass does.
Is there a way to solve this?

    Hi,

The wind on trees should be possible, but only with trees paintable on terrain. Increase the bend factor of added trees and then add wind zone to your scene and tweak the settings to your liking.

The bend applies to the trunk only. The leaves will remain static, right?

    Leaves/branches should follow the trunk.

I have had this product for well over a year and love the models however the trees do not work in the terrain editor. Has any one resolved this issue? I really need to use this asset.

This is because the trees are not setup as Unity Trees or SpeedTree prefabs. They're just meshes. As such they cannot be used with the terrain tools.

I requested them to be converted to trees that could be used on the terrain and respond to wind. However, the publisher told me I will have to convert them myself.
I am about to hire a SpeedTree artist for this.

    Hi, apologies for delayed reply!

There are terrain-compatible trees included in Terrain Trees>Prefab folder:

I know the prefabs for winter version are missing at the moment, but all that needs to be done is to copy existing prefabs, rename them, copy materials and swap textures to winter ones and apply these materials to the new prefabs, all within Unity. There's no need to edit source meshes at all, nor hire an artist for it.
The exception is winter version of tree_01 and tree_02 and I will fix these as well as missing prefabs as soon as I can.

Apologies for this inconvenience and best regards!
