    Hello all,

Halloween is almost here, so I decided to group up all the related templates I'm releasing for this period in one thread. I'll be posting new and old Halloween templates, and I might throw in a couple of freebies later, so watch this thread!

    ___________________________________________________________________________
    WHACK A ZOMBIE

First in the list is a remake of another game of mine, with a zombie theme. Hit the zombies as they emerge from their graves, get points and level up to increase the time. Try to hit as many zombies as you can before the timer runs out!

    ZOMBIE DRIVE

Survive the apocalypse in your armored van, collect repairs and fuel to keep going, smash through hordes of zombies and avoid deadly obstacles! The game is ready to release straight out of the box, and it can also be easily customized to make it even more engaging to your players. The game supports PC/Mac, iOS, Android, etc. It can be played with the mouse, keyboard, gamepad, or touch controls.

Here is a Work-In-Progress for the upcoming Zombie Drive Game Template:

It will be a kind of curvy zigzag type of game, with zombies of course!

Zombie Drive is selling well and I got some great feedback from testers, so I made a new update and it's already on its way to the store. Should hopefully be accepted within a couple of days.

    1.04 (19.10.2016)

    - Added a speed increase based on how many points we got, so the level of challenge increases.
    - Added gaps to spawns so now you can create a whole section and set a gap between it and the next spawn. There is an example for this in the Zombie Horde spawn.
    - Fixed gamepad support so now you can navigate the UI and play the game with the gamepad.
    - Fixed the gib physics when the zombie explodes. Now its head fly up correctly.
    - Fixed the pick objects being chosen randomly from the list, so now they appear consecutively as they should, for example the repair item appears, then the fuel, then the repair again, and so on.
    - Fixed the music button not muting correctly.

I'll post a video of the update later.

Here's a video showing how I give one of my upcoming game templates a Halloween theme using BitGem's awesome models:

IS the Zombie Drive a endless straight on game? We need a version where can drive through a city with left and right turns. Is that possible with the asset?

The above package is a "curvy" type of game where the player swerves from side to side on a straight path. I do have a "ZigZag" type of game that lets you turn left/right in a changing path. Take a look at it here:

Thank you. Is the level pre-generated or can we create the level in unity editor?

The level is created randomly as you go along. But you can technically keep the list of randomly generated street section empty so that none will be created. Then you can create your own level and go through it. One of my customers took this package (ZigZag) and made this game out of it:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Thanish.MazeDrive

The levels in it are pre-created, and he made a change to the turning code so that you can turn 360 degrees.

The Zombie Drive game template looks interesting! Is it possible there'll be the option to change what kind of level you play in a future update? :)

I actually have something like that in some of my other templates, that switches buttons and loads levels, while showing high score and rating, and can also lock a level based on the score we got in the previous one. Like here:

Are you referring to the Zombie Drive game? Yes, you can add more zombie/obstacle sections, and have multiple cars to select from.

hi, I'm trying to add new cars into zombie drive game. So, I added new model, set it up as demo car prefab and now there is no collision detection neither with zombies or obstacles. I'm trying to figure out how did you make collision detection but I can't
    Help me please

Could be a couple of things, let's try something. Do you have the collider covering the car set as isTrigger like this?

Can the character controller for Zombie Drive be used for a 2D top-down game? Designing a vertical top down flappy bird style game. Similar to this game:

Yes. Exactly like that. Would need some smoothing.

To do this I just rotated the camera to look almost straight down, and made the car rotation speed very high so it flips direction almost instantly. A lower speed will make rotation smoother.

When I try ZombieDrive106.exe, it says there should be a Zombie Drive Folder next to it.
Can you update the link on the asset store please?

Yes, you're right. And that one is an older version too.

Here's the latest version of Zombie Drive (1.10):

I'll submit a fix to the link in the store for review.

I had a question from a client about modifying the view angle of Zombie Drive.
It's a bit tricky since many things depends on that view angle, but we can do a few things:

    upload_2022-1-22_9-46-33.png

    - Set the camera Far clipping distance to a high value so you can see far away, 200 is how it looks in the screenshot above.

    upload_2022-1-22_9-46-34.png

    - Duplicate the environment sections and push them forward to cover more of the horizon, in the screenshot above I push each section +20 in Z position

    upload_2022-1-22_9-46-34.png

    - Go to rendering lighting settings and toggle the fog on with some settings to hide the cutoff in the distance.

    upload_2022-1-22_9-46-34.png

    - Also set the camera to a solid background with the same color as the fog so it blends seamlessly with the sky.

    upload_2022-1-22_9-46-34.png

    - Final thing you can do is tweak the spawn distance for obstacles and zombies, but that could become a problem with higher numbers since it will take a long time for the obstacles to arrive at your position.
