[RELEASED] Flowfire EDITOR PLUS - shortcuts, favourites, history - editor extension

    I get the same problem. In fact the editor freezes for about 5 seconds whenever I open a window, or select a object or asset through the scene, hierarchy or project tab.

    I really like the extention, but this forces me to remove it from my project. I really hope that this will be resolved.

    yep I have removed this asset..

    This lag problem is not only related to Editor plus tabs having the lag.. its affecting everything in the unity editor.
    I don't think sending an email to the developer is going to help at all. All I'm going to say is the same thing I've said here.

    The issue is not related to my PC or unity settings so I don't think by me sending you an email that some how you the developer is going to be able to fix it for me. You need to fix the plugin or else this plugin is totally useless.

    Who is going to want to use this asset if the Unity editor has this sort of lag. The answer is no one.

    The popular request is to fix this lag. You can't seriously ignore it and continue to promote a broken asset.

    We have been constantly adding features and fixes for Editor Plus. The more an issue is specified, the faster we can fix it, and sending a mail with details is always the fastest way. This is the first time this is brought up, we will certainly look at what is going on with the mentioned freezes.

    We will post here when we have any new info about this bug or the fix update.

    I've got a problem, don't know why and how my editor disappeared from the editor and I have no clue how to bring it back, I tried to reinport but still nothing happens, any ideas?

    Your editor ? What exactly disappeared ? You mean Editor Plus disappeared ? You can find it under the "Window" tab in your top tooltbar. I'm not sure what you mean.

    I don't know why but from time to time my Unity crashes cause suddenly Editor Plus from Window tab disappears thats what I meant by it disappeared (no longer in windows tab) but it works for now.

    That is one general Unity Interface issue that seems to happen with all assets Ive personally had so far. Saving a layout is always good to get your layout back easily.

    so instead of fixing this asset, you split it into two. so two broken assets.. man you must be desperate for cash.

    We know about the reality of the issue for 1 work week now (10 December), the Hotbar has been been submitted 3 weeks earlier and neither seem broken for majority of the userbase.

    When asked, you did not answer our follow up question nor write us a mail, so we assume the problem was at your end and would be resolved already, which happens in many bug reports. Also a delay with no specification on lenght is not a bug, everything in the engine has a small delay, so that was no report we could work with. MrEdward then confirmed the issue and then we could start working on it.

    However resolving this occuring problem is currently our main priority and should be out soon.

    I don't want to add fire to fire, but is already quite a bit of time from the osx crash issue. Any ETA on it?
    I'd like to update to newer versions but I'm stuck to 1.2.1.

    We have tried fixing the Mac crash, but the crashes make no sense from our standpoint, all the code has been checked and as everything related to mac differences is handled by unity, and we have no way of finding out what is going on with there under the hood with this conversion process, it seems out of our hands sadly.

    That is soo sad and weird.
    I use more then 30 plugins and many of them are for extending the editor itself.
    Could you be more precise? What file/line is causing this crash? I'd like to give a look to it. Also there is no other way to do you need to do that will not crash Unity? If it is a specific feature you could also disable if on osx.

    have you tested this with the latest version of unity? im on 5.3.2p4 and its not working. cant drag and drop onto hotbar etc

    Make sure you are not trying to drag scene objects into the hotbar, these can be saved in the favourites bar.
    Scene objects like lights are no physically existant objects and not in your unity project, thus can not be saved in a folder.
    If you mean something else, please let us know.

    There is also an update coming soon for Editor plus that fixes various issues and the performance issue, it got delayed a bit but is pretty much ready as of now.

    Hi, things are complicated, but I found Editor Plus is significantly slowing down my Editor.
    I've been using it for months and it works good. Lately I'm building UI for my game so I have to create GameObjects quickly. Then I realized my Editor actually took seconds to respond to ALL my commands, say creating objects, clicking objects etc. That was bearable but I decided to figure it out. Eventually, a simple repro has been found: create a new project, import Editor Plus,OK there you go:eek:. Now just try control+shift+n(Create Empty) rapidly.
    Is that a bug or by design?

    My hardwares:
    CPU: i5-2500k OC 4.5G
    GPU: Nvidia 970
    RAM: 16G
    Disk: SSD(Unity and Projects)

    Hi, any news on that performance update? After using Editor PLUS for months I finally discovered that it was the cause of some painfully slow performance. I'm removing it for now but it's incredibly useful, and has formed part of my core workflow. Hoping to see that update soon!

    i'm surprised unity asset store staff have not removed this asset from the store.

    A lot of users could end up blaming unity and submitting false bug reports..
    This problem has been here for months and still no fix.

    Are you guys actually trying to fix this?
    have to contacted Unity for some advice on how to fix this?

    EditorPlus 'forgets' it's favorites in the History window. I don't know exactly when but they are gone on a regular basis.
    When I press Play in the editor they suddenly re-appear.


    Anybody else having this problem ?

    I came here after finally realising why my editor has been running painfully slowly for so long to let the asset authors know about it... I see I am not the first! I only wish I'd looked into this sooner... when I think of the time I would have saved! I'd kind of just accepted it was because my project was growing, but after reading this http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/1109686/unity-is-really-slow-when-selecting.html I started going through and deleting anything with editor scripts, and low and behold... EditorPlus was the culprit! I'll keep an eye out for an update, but until then it has to be removed.

    My god... my editor feels so fast. 6 months ago I bought this plugin. Every click has been taking 5 or 6 seconds to react. I'd forgotten how wonderful this feels and just blamed it on my aging laptop. :rolleyes:

    Ok... something very odd just happened.

    I was looking at the scripts from EditorPlus to try to find the culprit. I started by deleting the editor scripts one by one, eventually I narrowed it down to EditorPlusHistory and EditorPlusHistoryInternal. During this process I repeatedly deleted scripts, then uninstalled the whole package, then reinstalled. Every time I uninstalled, my editor ran fast with no delays, and every time I re-imported, the delay would instantly come back.

    I added a return; to the beginning of every function in EditorPlusHistory and it made no difference, so I removed them and turned to EditorPlusHistoryInternal.

    I narrowed that down to the Update function. I could stop the freezes by commenting out the subscription to Update near the beginning "EditorApplication.update += Update;"

    Then I tried commenting out "AddToHistory(id)" inside Update, that also stopped the freezes.

    I went to AddToHistory() and did the same until commenting out "SaveNavigationHistory()" also stopped the freezes.

    I went to SaveNavigationHistory() and in there I saw a foreach loop...

    I commented out the foreach loop, the freezes stopped. I added a Debug.Log(historyNaigationIDs.Count.ToString()); in there and went back to the editor. It started as 1, and each time I selected a new object, it went up by 1 as I would expect.

    Here's the weird bit... all of a sudden, the freezes had totally stopped happening. I undid all of my changes... no freezes. I uninstalled and re-imported EditorPlus... still no freezes.

    So at this point, my editor is working just fine again, with editorplus installed. And I have no explanation.

    Is there any chance that somehow the historyNaigationIDs list could have been massively bloated and caused a long freeze during the foreach loop? I don't know enough about editor coding.

    For now I'm going to leave a debug in there giving me a readout of the size of that list to see what happens as I continue to use my once-again speedy editor.

    Anyone have any clue what just happened? :) Could the fact that it is a static list in an editor script cause it to be keeping its entries between editor sessions?

    Ok.. I just answered my own question before hitting post. My debug line was at 165. I closed the editor and re-opened, then selected an item in the editor. It printed 166. Something I did during de-bugging must have cleared that list, but now it is happily growing again, and even uninstalling the plugin and re-importing doesn't clear it.

    That there is what is causing your freezes.

    The only time that list is cleared is when you manually go to the tiny little settings menu in the top right corner of the "History & Favs window" and select Clear/Clear History or Clear/Clear All. Anyone that's been experiencing freezes, please test that out to see if it stops them (at least for a while). Please note, my "History Size" is set to 25, but still the historyNavigationIDs list keeps getting bigger unless I manually Clear from that menu.

    After having removed this plugin, I'm now getting these warnings (9 times) every time I run in the editor...

    The referenced script on this Behaviour is missing!

    Followed by...

    The referenced script on this Behaviour (Game Object 'EditorPlusSceneObjectsSave.0c8a012e9429cba19a1b82525ccf354b67d800f4') is missing!

    There is nothing in the scene that I can see that shows these missing scripts etc. It doesn't seem to be affecting the project, but it is non-the-less annoying. Any idea how I can get rid of them?

    I have tried re-installing it and using all of the "Clear" options, then uninstalling, but I still get the warnings.

    Hello everyone. We just submitted the update that fixes the performance issues.
    We are very sorry for the delay and lack of communication, we originally did fix the performance issue within 2 days but something in Unity breaking all our UI styles which could not be reverted by SVN followed by other issues sadly hindered us from working on Editor plus and just quickly publishing the fix. We sincerely apologize for the delay and hope you can fully enjoy the Plus Suite now after the memory issues are gone.

    UPDATE 1.3.2
    - Fixed memory management issues
    - Saving history data into scenes is now optional
    - Added "Remove saved data" function for clean removal of the asset
    - (Seperate) Hotbar Asset is now free for anyone

    The fix should be live within usual unity approval timespans. (-+ 4 days)

    There is a option in the Editor plus settings window that cleanly removes everything including cache, doing that should resolve the issue. Best regards

    EditorPlus is a pleasure to use, but I noticed that it "forgets" Favs after Scene changes. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature. Example scenario:

    1) "Fav" a GameObject1 in Scene2.
    2) Click Play.
    3) The game starts in Scene1. The GameObject1 disappears from the History & Favs panel.
    4) The game flow switches back to Scene2, but the GameObject1 is still missing from the panel.
    5) Stop the game. GameObject1 is back inside the History & Favs panel, but I wanted it there during Play :)

    Is there some setting that makes EditorPlus remember Favs across scenes?
