Hello all, I'm super excited to announce that Clayxels is on to the Asset Store!

    itchAssetStoreBanner.jpg

Clayxels is an interactive volumetric toolkit to sculpt assets in Unity, both in-editor and in-game. It doesn't use ray-marching, instead it outputs a lightweight, vertex-shaded point cloud that is not dependent on the viewport resolution and weights just like a regular mesh.
With clayxels everything you'll do will stay interactive. It means you'll be able to sculpt game assets directly in unity and change them at any time, iterate on complex level design elements directly in the editor, without messing with complex mesh topology operations, and you'll be able to also do all of the above at runtime in your game.

There's really lot of stuff that can be done with it, and so much more that I want to add going forward, I couldn't be more excited to see what you folks will come up with : )

Just a heads up, Clayxels is finally up on the Asset Store:
    https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/systems/clayxels-165312

It's been a long journey that started out of my own need to make game assets as quickly as possible. It ended being much more than I had originally planned, opening up all sorts of crazy stuff in-game as well as in editor.
Here's write-up on the journey that led to Clayxels as it is today:

Hope to see what you'll do with it here or on the discord channel!

I bought this yesterday. The posts at Reddit over the last couple of months really intrigued me. Will try it out over the weekend. For those who haven't looked at this properly yet, I really recommend you do so.

Pity the developers/ support link seems to be Discord only?
Would like to know more without needing Discord.
Any other links to this, Andrea_i
    Thanks..Looks superb in Asset store.

How big can levels made with clayxels be and still run fast? It would be reassuring to see a larger level made with it if possible.

Hi! sorry for the later reply here, I'm activating email notifications to better stay in the loop.

@vertexx the itch forum is a good place to add questions too, although most of the users are currently on discord. Otherwise either twitter or my email as reported on the asset store page : )

@abatcat performance varies a lot depending on use case. If you plan on using clayxels to sculpt objects, then it will have very little impact on your scene and it will perform similarly to plain unity standard meshes.
If instead you want clayxels interactively updating in your game, then performance will take a big hit and you will need some more strategic planning, like avoiding many containers updating at once in one frame.

Discord is a terrible choice for support specially from the point of view of someone who gives support. Every issue gets mixed between messages that nobody reads and support gets annoying pretty quickly. Duplicated questions everywhere and bad attitude from costumers when things go down. There are tons of self-hospedable FOSS projects who would be a better fit than Discord (see Ticketing). Programming communities like .NET, Typescript, React, etc, moved to Discord and engagements is extremely poor, value-wise (self-promition, ads, reddit reposts). Tools that rewarded cultured user interaction (like stackexchange) are being replaced with dumbed-down tools like Discord. It's a shame.

This looks so cool. It doesn't suite my current project but it sure makes me want to make an excuse to create a game using this.

Hello guys! there's some truly lovely sculpts being posted here <3
As for why I focus my support on discord for now, please understand I'm a one-man development studio supporting a community of a few thousand users, discord is working really well to get people to interact and help each other even when I'm not there.
I know it's not the most ideal place for support, but it's one of the mandatory ones to have these days, and I can't quite handle more than one space for now. But never say never : )

Please keep posting cool works even here! and if you have urgent matters use my email as provided in the docs.

For this floating island I use the Spline (palm tree) and Offset (island) options.

I like the style of graphic you can make with Clayxels but since I wouldn't want to only support desktop computers only, how hard is it to create characters in Clayxels and then export and rig them? Has anyone experience using it for that yet?

Where has the OBJ export gone? I remember there being an option.

    Unity's FBX Exporter doesn't work.
