    Hello Unity Developers!
I'm pround to announce that my Authentic Early Medieval Ages Audio Pack is now available on the Unity Asset Store!
You can also download the FREE version which includes parts of all the features of the full version.

Are you creating a video game set in the Middle Ages where you want the music and sounds to be as historically accurate as possible? Then this audio pack is what you need.

Watch the full presentation of all the features of this Audio Pack here!

Watch me play and record one of the soundtracks of the pack here!

Watch the in-game demo of the Ambient pack here. All the sounds used from this gameplay are included in this asset!

The soundtracks have been carefully composed using a combination of virtual instruments from the Middle Ages and live instruments such as drums, recorders and classical guitar (emulating the sound of a lute) to ensure historical accuracy. The melodies and general sonority are based on extensive listening of pieces of music composed around the 10th and 11th century and on research of early medieval music harmony.

In this pack, you will find:

1- The first random soundtrack generation script! Based on six different song structures composed as Medieval Folk Tunes, the soundtracks will be randomly generated using 16 different melodies, 8 different drum loops and 8 different accompaniments. That is a total of nearly 6144 possible combinations! (6x16x8x8)

An additional script that lets you control the volume of the generated soundtrack depending on the player's distance to a game object is also available.

Test the random script generator in a Unity Web Player demo scene!
    http://goo.gl/CdhKmc

2- Several other random music generation scripts: a classical guitar (lute) mood and a gregorian chant for church sonority.
*NEW UPDATE* Two new random scripts are available for medieval church organ music!

3- Adaptive music according to the action based on triggers to switch between a battle and an exploration mode.

4- Drag and drop Prefabs to quickly set up the asset inside your game

5- A new feature which enables you to change the tempo of the "random folk dance" for even more variety!!!

6- Nine full pieces of music (all of which loopable)

7- 18 different chimes to underline events like a victory, defeat, a click on a button and the likes...

8- Multiple ambiance sounds including campfire, battle, castle courtyard, forest, horses walking, winter wind..., all loopable.

9- As a bonus, over 200 medieval sound FX!

Regarding file formats, all of the sound FX, Ambient sounds and the random soundtrack generation script samples are in *.WAV format in highest quality.
The chimes, full soundtrack pieces and the guitar and gregorian chant samples are in *.OGG in 192 kbps quality.

Future updates to this pack will be based on YOUR feedback! :)
    Thanks for listening!
    Sincerely,

    Marma

    Hi there

Your assets look very promising, but I'm somehow struggling what's the difference between them:

    1) Authentic Early Medieval Ages Audio Pack

    From the description:

    2) Authentic Early Medievala Ages Music

    From the description:

    3) Authentic Early Medieval Ages Ambient

    From the description:

They seem to overlap in different areas, but it's hard to tell, which of them includes all. Does the first asset "Pack" include all of the other two assets? However, there are more possible combinations in the second asset "Music". Would I have to buy all three assets in order to have all parts?

    Hi Parallaxe,
    Sorry this seems confusing.
Actually, the Pack is simply the content of the Music and the Ambient Assets.
The Pack has everything that both other assets have. If there are any differences in the description, it's because I'm upgrading them very often now, based on user feedback so I've already added two new random soundtrack generation structures and am updating the random script so that the volume changes depending on the distance of the player to a game object. Since all updates are not approved at the same time, the descriptions might seem different... ;)
I've included the same chimes in both the music and the ambient assets since chimes can be thought of both and "ambient" sounds and "music"... :p

I created the two other assets (music and ambient) because I thought that not everyone was interested in both the music and the ambient and that some would just like to buy the music at a cheaper price without the ambient and vice versa... :)

If you have any questions/suggestions, don't hesitate!
I've created a thread for an extension I'm working on (sold seperately) with random interactive soundtracks for medieval battles!
Check out the thread here: :D

Do you have some ancient roman sounds too?

    Hi @martire
When I was researching Medieval music, I did stumble upon articles about roman music. However, there is very little knowledge of music in those days since musical notation only became available/understandable only from around the 10th century.
Most specialists have theories about how such music sounded and apparently, it was rather weird music, very basic with usually solo instruments (harp, flute, drums...) and quite awkward in the melodies (nothing pleasant to listen to with our "modern" ears)

Inside this pack, I have several randomly generated instruments that may fit to a "roman" setting, specifically the random harp and flute, perhaps also the random lute.

Also, don't forget that "Ancient Roman" music is very vague as a concept since the Roman Empire started several centuries before Christ in Italy, then spread all the way to England and the Middle East! So I can assure you that the music that was played in it's Eastern capital of Constantinople (in Turkey) was completely different from the music enjoyed by the soldiers of the Roman Empire in England. In Constantinople, it would be music very much akin to Middle Eastern/Arabic music...

In any case, many of my instruments rely on "ancient" melodic scales which would fit many different styles of music from the period ranging from the 5th century to the 15th century... ;)

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
    Sincerely,
    Marma

This looks like a really cool pack. Thinking of picking it up. Hard to find something to match the theme of my game.

I was wondering though... if I find a particular random generation that I like, can I save that configuration for future use?

    Hi Jakejolli,
Unfortunately, there is no feature to save randomly generated music, other than recording it via your computer.
However, all the "parts" for the generated music is stored in well organized folders in the Resources folder, so if you have a Digital Audio Workstation (like FL Studio, Cubase, Garageband...) simply import the parts you like in the right tempo and you can assemble your own custom track, even make it "unique" and differ from the randomness generation (create your own song structure: start with percussion, add flute...)
    I hope this helps! :)
If you like the concept, you can easily upgrade to the Giga Pack (only a few dollars more) and you get random soundtrack generation in many other styles! ;)
    Sincerely,
    Marma
