[RELEASED] Armory Crafter - Modular Weapon Props Editor

    Armory Crafter v1.2
    3D Modular editor for weapons and shields

    Documentation
    Armory Crafter is a tool for editing modular weapons and shields. It comes with models that you can combine, change their size, color and textures. You can also import your custom models or textures and use them with the default ones.


    After done editing, you can export your models to Prefab or OBJ and use them directly in your game project.
    You can also save your models for continue editing later or use the save system as a library of weapons and shields.

    Requires Unity 2017.1.0 or higher.

    Current model types you can create:
    • Blades
    • Axes
    • Hammers
    • Shields
    • Clubs (New!)

    I did a little update adding a color picker and blend modes. Also fixed OBJ texture paths, they are now relative instead of absolute.

    Should be ready on the asset store next week I guess.

    Free version is ready to download!

    Link: Armory Crafter FREE version.

    Free version have less models to combine but you can still export as prefab and obj. Try it and evaluate if it fits with your game project before purchasing the full version.

    Can you assemble weapons and armour in runtime?

    Only weapons and shields can be assembled using Armory Crafter but it only works inside of Unity, building the scene and running it outside of Unity won't work.

    @KevIU , can you use this asset though to build modular weapons and armour in runtime though?

    @Duffer123, Armory Crafter assembles weapons and shields in runtime and can export as .prefab and/or .obj because it's a play-mode editor.

    If you mean to use Armory Crafter in other scene, I'm afraid that is currently not possible. The tool was made to run only in its scene.

    Update. New tutorials.

    The way to import your custom models into Armory Crafter is not as easy as I wanted it to be. I've uploaded some tutorials to help you out:

    I will upload more tutorials like how to add custom textures to the default models that come with the tool.

    It seems that the asset you linked have their models in one single mesh. You will need to use Blender or other 3D software to split them into weapon parts submeshes.

    I explain my way to do that in this first video: Preparing the model for importing into Armory Crafter.

    But, even after that, you will need to use a 3D software to import the parts into the file that recognize Armory Crafter.

    I explain how to in this other video: Importing your custom parts into Armory Crafter.

    So you will have to go for the two tutorials if you want to use that asset with the tool. With an asset like this other one:
    https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/props/weapons/low-poly-modular-weapon-set-112194, would be easier as the meshes are already split and you will only need to go for the second tutorial.

    I wanted it to be easier but I couldn't find any other way. I'm open to suggestions and ideas of how to improve the system for adding custom stuff. Sorry for the inconvenience.
