I'm curious to know if it really makes sense for me or anyone Launching a Multiplayer Game to Host Multiple Servers in Different Regions. While yes of-coarse I know off hand it sounds like a no brainer... but if your an indie developer with limited budget, independently publishing your game.... doesn't it make more sense to Host a Single Server at a Central Location where most of the World can get a decent connection to?

I feel if I host multiple servers in different regions starting off this would segment the number of players way too much and might break the game.... or in other words affect the success of the game because as an Indie with limited budget, resources... building the game and fan base will take sometime. So hosting multiple servers right from the start might make it very difficult to grow the community if players are too divided.

What's your thoughts on this issue..?

I think you have a good understanding of your situation and the risks on both sides. My suggestion would be to stick with a single server at first to build community, but have a well prepared plan to scale quickly, so if/when the need arises, you can just pull the trigger.

haha thanks Zombie! I guess I was talking out loud having one of those internal wars or what to do... although I was leaning towards the single server at launch idea, a little reinsurance that i'm thinking this out correctly is helpful. So thank you Zombie!

I guess that closes this Thread haha... unless someone has more to add or other ideas, bring it on. ^_^

You could put your game on kongregate and hope for the best? :p I don't know if they have their own servers or if they ask for a link to yours, but I have seen a couple unity mmos on kongregate lol.

And I know it was all unity stuff because kongregate has a unity filter for their game search xP
