I can't find a way to generate those 2FA code that you supposed to print out. Is there a way to do that? I don't want to lose my Unity account if I lose my phone 0_0

I don't know answer to your question.
But you shouldn't worry about phone.
Memorize and register your phone number, with phone network provider.
Then you wont have a problem, no matter which phone you have.
And your contacts always will know, how to catch you up.

This does not address the issue at hand, which is "what happens when I'm without my phone for whatever reason and I need to log in via 2fa"

    I get your point.
But then probably 2fa using phone is not right solution for you.

In what situation person would have to be, to be required log in with 2fa, while not having phone at hand?
The only resealable situation is, if other family member occupies your device, or batter is flat.

Google has an alternative check methods, if you lost you phone. Doe Unity has it too?

Except the OP isn't saying "sometimes I forget my phone in the toilet" or anything like that.

    • Traveling, leading to poor cell coverage
    • Accidentally dropping the phone and breaking the screen
    • Being on a pay as you go plan and running out of account balance, meaning you can't receive incoming texts
    • Or, yeah, going to work and forgetting your phone
There are plenty of failure points for 2fa, which is...

    ...why the OP says specifically:

The site is, for one reason or another, not letting them access the recovery codes.

Fair points. However, none of them leads to ...
Which in my understanding is, like loosing your phone number permanently, for which OP is worry about.

    Now you made me curious.
Which mobile network charge you for receiving messages, weather you got balance, or not?
That only makes sense to me, if you abroad and covered by roaming.

I am really interested which "Most" Pay & Go

    For example I know
    O2 don't
    Orange don't
    Play don't

All as long you got active sim card, which typically is 6 months after last received / sent text / call.

Is that something you go regional?

Below is an image from Unity's Support FAQ showing where you click to generate them. Based on the wording of the support article I'm inclined to believe that the recovery codes are only valid for the Authenticator App.

If your phone isn't reliable, don't use two factor authentication.

If it's a one off risk, like your phone getting stolen, you can always email support.

The last time I dealt with support for an issue regarding accessing my license it actually took three days to get a response.

Yeah. Sounds about right. But considering how often the average person looses their phone, it doesn't seem like a big deal.

That's a... kinda dangerous way of thinking, especially if you're in the final stages of a project. Losing three days at the end can be kind of a huge deal.

Which is why there should be recovery codes for both options :v

Is anyone actually logging into the editor every single day? I just hit the remember me box.

By the time of closing to the project end, all assets are likely to be loaded already.
So can polish them with a game offline.

I think issue is a bit exaggerated.

What if you don't have an internet.
Does that will stop from working?

Or if get sick, or whatever other unpredictable events, which is more likely than mobile issue.

    But agree with that.

The "remember me" box is kinda... flaky. I usually end up logging in every other time I open the editor. Sometimes it happens more than once in a day.

Mine has a tendency to unremember me specifically when I'm not online.
