    Hi,
Out of curiosity I was wondering if I could use Unity as a video editing tool rather than other softwares. The idea is why learn another program if I'm confortable with Unity and have all the features I need in one place.

Of couse its never that easy.

Recording with the Unity Timeline and Unity Recorder works fine.
Playing an MP4 videoclip in the timeline using the Timeline samples custom timeline is also fine.

Doing both doesn't work as well, the videoclip chugs so much it doesn't even play half of the content it is supposed to by the end of the recording.

    This is my setup:

I'm leaving 10 seconds empty at the start trying to preload the video but that doesn't seem to do anything

If I understand there is no way to wait for the video playable asset to wait for the frame to display such that the recording doesn't continue without it.

If it's not possible I'll deem this a failed attempt and conclude that Unity isn't yet ready to be used as a video editing software and I'll just record my unity animations with transaprent backgrounds and assemble them in another software.
