Hey all I want to prepare a budget for the production for our indie game. Does anybody have a good template for it or on how do I go about it?Our team is spread across the world and most of them are freelancers.I really need help as it is really important. This budget serve as a forecast to show how much we have spent so far and to show the future expenses. If any one can help us we would really appreciate it.

Number of workers * hourly pay * (estimated duration * 4) + marketing budget - personal investment + software cost = cost

That is a good way to get your estimated budget.

    Yeah Robinson is right.

And to complete the "estimated duration" part you will need to list all things you need by field such as :

    - Game Design (research + production)
    - 2D concept (research + production)
    - if 3D game >> 3D assets (mainly production)
    - Music (effects + Music + voices)
    - Programming (mainly production)

    Could be a good start.

The worst is if you do not know any of those specialties you will need a skilled Lead to first guide you.

I usually add x2 on my estimations, because the client aaaaaaalways wants to change things without affecting the release date (of course...)

Of course, in my case x2 is the minimum I consider for any project/job, and usually I go with that x4, which usually scares people, "a temple run polished in X months you're outta mind" LOL
