I think we need this urgently, some kind of system, I keep hearing too many stories how developers mess around and make excuses all the time (developers found on this forum) least 3 of my buddies have had this experience.

It all starts off good and once first/second payment given, starts going down hill.
Then one is stuck and trapped as money is given but project is not done.
So one wasted time, and time one cannot get back in life.

The usual pattern, often mixing personal lives with work and then making excuses when projects and builds are not delivered on time.

I'm really getting annoyed these days as its hard to filter out true developers who are professionals and wish to make money and work as required and the so called part time developers who feel they will code when they wish to and then just drop a excuse when needed.

    What to do?

p.S. not hard to enable detective mode - maybe expose some of these people in the future.

They tried something like this a while ago (a feedback thread) and it didn't end well. So I'm pretty sure they won't try again and would rather stay away from that sort of thing. There are other websites specifically for this.

Then don't give this person large amounts of money (at one time) until you trust them. Problem solved.

The problem with any system in Unity is that someone can just simply change his nickname/name and start from scratch after unpleasant ratting.

We all know that there are few developers here in Unity that simply wait for a good customer which he later on cheats with money or worse. Because of them it is hard to trust other honest developers who work very hard to get good reputation.

I don't think there is any good way of dealing with this problem, other than rewarding those honest developer with putting their names in list of good and honest. As negative ones are way to easy to deal with.

It depends what kind of wages you are giving. For example, for the price of what scammers on this forum charge, you can hire around 4 to 8 ex-studio employees.

We've even match wages or better, and they are the AAA type - the staff here are also on the credits list for Last of Us, Assassin's Creed, Path of Exile, The Sims and Uncharted 3., and they are very affordable, no repeat work, gets things done.

Did you try putting your Ad at the job-fair when Walt-Diseney had lay-offs a few months ago?
Zomebie Gorilla's friends make wonderful artwork.
