Well I'm back, and with another problem (although we don't drop by here to suggest recipes now do we!).

I've been working on a WebGL deployment of one of our products and find that downloads using the WWW class seem to be failing due to "Connection timed out." after about 5 seconds - the file is less than 5MB, and we have a very good connection.

I'm running version 5.1.0 b3, and I know, beta, but it did fix a few of the other "gamebreaking" issues I had run into previously and I've grown rather fond of it.

At the end of the day and with my google-fu exhausted I really have to ask if anyone knows anything, or has experienced anything like this. It would be fantastic if we could define the timeout time within the class, but Unity doesn't seem to be able to do that.

As per usual, any help or assistance (or even a damn good joke at this stage!) is always welcome!

So after heaps of messing around and pouring over documentation we eventually found that if you edit the raw javascript files and change ".timeout=timeout" to ".timeout=0" the problem was resolved.

Pardon my frustration here, but in a professional development platform that we paid thousands of dollars per seat for slips like this are not acceptable.

Same is happening to us, still happening on 5.0.2f1 and also on beta 5.10f3, any plan for fixing this?

Sorry for this, we have a fix and will get it into one of the first 5.1 patch releases.

A simpler workaround for now would be to make the change you described in the
PlaybackEngines/WebGLSupport/BuildTools/lib/WebRequest.js file in your editor installation - that way you won't have to patch every build.

I understand your frustration, but for us to fix "unacceptable" issues like this we still have to know about it. Of course we do a lot of both automated and manual testing, but this slipped through the cracks, as it only really shows in production environments with actual downloads from remote servers taking actual time. So we really depend on users reporting bugs for issues like this, which I am not aware of anyone doing.

It's good to hear that this should be fixed soon. To clarify, will the fix be in the release expected on the 9th, or a release after that?

I posted in the other 5.1 beta forum about this issue with the bug reference (699748).

The fix will not be in the first 5.1 release, as that is pretty much out of the door - but in a patch release soon after.

Was the fix released on f2 or f3?
