I'm just wondering. I don't see any way to close the threads once they are answered. Who closes them?

Andrew is long being member, just as myself. But what Andrew said, it was repeated multiple times over past period, by forum officials/moderation.

Best you can do, if you think thread/post/user become toxic, or spam, use report button with a comment. Rest is left upon mods judge.

If you want a thread closed, here are your options:

    - Necro the thread a year later with an off topic comment
    - Derail the thread competently from its original topic, and preferably anything relevant to Unity and games
    - Talk politics and religion
    - Start a flame war with personal insults

Otherwise the thread will stay open for prosperity.

Its important to remember that once you create a thread, it is no longer your property. The community will often use a thread to explore all sorts of other ideas.

He knows the site well, and he is correct. This isn't "Unity Answers" or a simple query site. It is a discussion board, while something have simple answers, others don't not. No reason to shut down discussion simply because one person is happy with the results. If you do find an answer please post it for future users.

Though that may not work as expected.... we can delete the off-topic garbage, ban the offender and keep the thread alive. (bucept for out data necros that are revived pointlessly.)

I'm curious, why would you want to "close" a thread in the first place?
