maybe this is a dumb question, but i have doubts now.

    I always confuse them.

What is the use of each one in the quest?

    thanks

They can mean whatever you want them to mean.

In World of Warcraft, the exclamation mark meant that a quest was available, and the question mark meant that you could complete a quest.

    Hi @claudius_I,

First of all, there are no dumb questions, we're all learning here ;)

Secondly, if you want to know explicitly what the exclamation and question marks represent on what you're calling "the quest", would you mind explaining a little bit more?

    What's "the quest"?
Is part of a Unity's official tutorial?
Would you mind to share from where did you get "the quest"?

These questions are for us to be on the same channel as you and to be able to help.

    Happy learning!

    Hi

quest is for example "Talk to the guard" (for a RPG)

If I understand correctly, an exclamation mark would appear above the guard's head.

and if a quest is not active and a "person" a quest to offer, the question symbol appears

    Is that?

    thanks

    Hi @claudius_I,

There is no "game industry standard" for the usage of question and exclamation marks inside of a game.

Each game can implement their own meaning to those symbols.

If you want to use them in your game, what is important is to use them with common sense and with congruency along with all the places where you add them.

Usually, the games use such symbols to attract the player's attention.

From my own experience as a player, I usually found the question marks used to point out when the user can start a dialog with some NPC and the exclamation mark used in places where the user can read some information.

    I hope it helps!
