    Hello,

I have licenses for Unity Professional, iOS Pro and Android Pro. I purchased these licenses years ago for the full price. I upgraded them in August of 2012 from 3 to 4.

I see that the upgrade prices are as follows:

    Unity Pro: $600
    iOS Pro: $600
    Android Pro: $600

I was talking to my sales person and I noted that it was going to cost me $1800 to upgrade from 4 to 5. She says I'm getting a 20% discount off the full retail price. The full price of the add-ons, iOS Pro and Android Pro, is $600 per license, correct? Only the Unity Pro license is going up to $750. The salesperson has said, "full retail cost of upgrading is in fact $750."

Is Unity raising the full retail price of the iOS Pro add-on and the Android Pro add-on from $600 to $750? Or are they raising the upgrade price of the Unity Pro license from $600 to $750, and leaving the add-ons priced as they were?

Is it going to cost me $2250 to upgrade from 4 to 5 if I don't upgrade now? That is what the salesperson is indicating.

    Rob

No, prices for all Pro licenses have always been $1500 new and $750 for upgrades. Anything less than that is a discount.

Thanks for your reply. Not always, only since 2011, have the prices been as you say. But I do stand corrected.

Since 2010, I've spent $5200 on Unity Pro, iOS Pro and Android Pro. And now they want another $1800, if I prepay, and $2250 if I wait.

    It feels expensive.

It is expensive for most of us. But that's the cost of doing business I guess, Unity is what pays our bills(for a lot of us). I'm in the same boat, but I'll be upgrading because in the grand scheme of things, the money that I will make from U5 is worth it.

all Unity licences is depreciate aprox. us$600 every new version and this in a sector as videogames where the tecnology is in constant change is absurd.

The upgrade cost is even worse if you select to view the prices including VAT... $750 each. Very expensive.

I wouldn't mind paying one lot of $750 as I feel Unity is a quality product and a fair upgrade price but $1500 is very expensive for loyal customers to upgrade.

I'm guessing it gets even more expensive to upgrade if you miss these prices...

Still costs less than starting an LLC in most states in the US...

If you aren't making money from your games, you have an expensive hobby. If you are and you haven't covered this amount in over 3 years, maybe you should re-think a few stuff.

I don't know what states you are talking about in Kentucky it costs $40.

Or are you talking about the new Apple Developer account rules that require being registered with Dun Bradstreet and having an email address with your LLC name in the domain name? That's very annoying and an invitation to spammers in my view. You don't want a email address with your domain name in it, but one of course from iCloud so they can use some of the $99 a year to filter out spam. Microsoft at least had the sense to modify their rules and allow a outlook.com email address if your LLC employs 2 or fewer people. That's not a state LLC rule and you don't have to pay the $599 Dun Bradstreet will try to get from you for a credit rating for your LLC. You wouldn't need a credit rating as an LLC unless you borrow money under the name of the LLC, which is unlikely.
