    Morning!

    Let me expose the situation:

As a teamleader for a project (non-commercial), I bought several assets, but because the rest of the team needs to use the same tools, I should share the assets.

Is there a problem with that or every team member should buy their own copy of the assets or can I just share the project with the assets included in it?

It's just a college project, so I really can't ask 10 lads to spend 200€ each on assets

Hope you guys can shed some light, as I don't want to have any issues breaching EULAs or copyrights :)

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

    * If the assets are tools or editor extensions or otherwise specifically mention "per seat" pricing, each developer must pay the price. You can tell it's a tool if the assets don't get included in the final shipping product, but just help in constructing the product.

    * If the assets were bought to be included in a project, then the whole team can have them on their machines as they work on the project, and included to develop the final product.

    * If the assets were bought to be included in projects by a single company/group/team like "Insane Goblin Studios", then it's still just "buy it once." Team members who join later can share the asset. Team members who leave the team must not keep a copy for themselves.

There is surely some legal fine-print on the Asset Store that spells this out.

Close - You can only put assets on computers that you own that are in a single location, or on laptops that you own and have been made available to employees that work at that location. So, unless you own the computers that your team works on, and those computers are all located at a single location, then you will need to purchase one license per user.

Following that extract, does that mean that I cannot use the assets in College because I don't own the computers?

The only way for me to use them is to bring my desktop with me at all times?

Actually, I think it depends on the asset. I think instead of talking to us and getting wild guessing, you should talk to asset's developer. Most of those guys are nice and reasonable people so you should get more info from them than you'll get from us.

TL;DR: E-mail developer of asset you want to use, not post threads like this.

You cant share the assets with others if you all are not part of a business entity or not all work at the same place. If you are spread around as individuals then everyone should have their own license and if you all work on the project only at same place, say like a computer class then one purchase is enough. When it comes to editor extensions then everyone needs own licenses if it says so, no matter if you are in the same room or not.

Of course you can't download assets onto a public computer. That would be like just giving them away.

I know it seems like a lot of work, and it is but, it's doable. I did it this morning. As folks who make software, it's important that we support our fellow developers. Lug that DT proudly my friend!
