    Is the latest patch release the same as the first next increment?

    e.g.

    Is 4.6.2p2 == 4.6.3

    Just want to make sure before downloading

    Patch releases are only for user who have serious bugs and need the a fast bugfix.
    All other user should wait for the next increment.
    And after 4.6.2p2 will probably not come 4.3... but 4.6.2p3 or 4.6.3 or maybe 4.7

    Sorry- meant 4.6.3 which just came out....

    I have 4.6.2p2 which I installed for the il2cpp fixes and metal support.

    I am trying to decide if I need to download 4.6.3 which just came out or if it is simply identical to 4.6.2p2?

    That is indeed a good question. Personal i do not like to to be behind the newest version (Even if it just the number hat changed) so i just update it, with reasonable fast internet that's not a problem.

    In general it's not guaranteed that an official point release would be identical to the most recent patch release; the major difference between patch releases and point releases is the amount of QA we do, but it'd be pretty pointless if we just then released the exact same build without fixing any of the problems that extra QA revealed :)

    As SuperPig says think of 4.6.3 === 4.6.2p3. Yes, p3. Since p3 has lots of useful things for everyone it is fully qa-ed and released as an update instead of a patch. 4.6.3 certainly isn't a rebranded patch release. Which the release notes should confirm.
