Hey I am going to buy some assets and I and my friend want to develop some games

If the assets have a Single Entity License only I need to buy it? because it's saying its good for small businesses and we are going to open a business soon

will I need to open a new unity account in the business name and to buy all the assets there? or I can just buy it in my account?

    Thanks for helping.

I think you would need to purchase assets as a company rather than an individual person.

    https://support.unity.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039447411-What-does-Multi-Entity-Single-Entity-mean-

‘Single Entity’ - If an Asset is not categorized as “Editor Extension”, “Scripting”, or “Services” and the END-USER purchaser of the license is a company or other business, then it can be shared with any employee within that company or business. This option is typically for a single user or single company.

‘Multi Entity’ - This covers parent, child, and sister companies, as well as contractors on a Project. Multiple people will use and have access to the Asset files.

If an Asset is categorized as an ‘Extension Asset’ or 'Seat', under the ‘license’ section on the Asset’s description page, one seat (copy) will need to be purchased for each person that will use or have access to the Asset.

    This might also be useful:

Worst case scenario you could always submit a request for information about this issue.

For a small team, you're fine with single entity.

Thank you for replying, I already checked that out I think the "Single Entity" is good but do I need to buy it in my account only and it will be fine for both of us?

They way I interpret it is if you are a solo developer using a "personal" account then only you can use the asset if it has a single license. However, if you purchase them "as a company" then you only need to purchase it once and it can be shared between employees (This doesn't apply to things like editor extensions if I remember correctly).

I think, legally speaking, Unity would view "me and a few friends who are working on a project together but there is no legal entity (business)" as violating the license agreement.

So, unless you have an actual registered/incorporated business in whatever country you live... I think Unity would take the position that you are not a company - but rather a collection of individual developers, which would require a license per user.

Will Unity come after you if you buy an asset with a single license which is used by you and a friend for a hobby game? Unlikely. However, the damage is mainly to asset publishers that lose money.

This is really something you should submit a request about in order to be confidant you aren't breaking TOS/Licensing.
