    Hi.

    I am currently working on a third person puzzle solving survival horror game. (its prototype name being "Phobia").
    as of now i have created a small demo for the game that u people can play.
    the demo is pretty short but should introduce you to the elements and gameplay in the game. (the game tells you when you have reached the end)

    how the game flows:
    the main point of the game is not to win. But to find out who the characters are and why is all this happening to them.
    you have a flashlight whit a battery life that gets drained the longer you use it. luckily there are batteries scattered around the area and you can collect batteries from various electronic devices around the house (like a radio, handheld consoles, etc etc) in case you don't find any bare batteries floating around in the house.
    while solving some puzzles you also have to watch out for the ghost girl who tries to kill you and the only way to defend yourself is to use the camera and use its bright flash light on her.

    I am looking for hones feedback. tell me everything you think.
    like is the controls bad?
    is the sound bad?
    does is crash on other computer?
    etc.

    Controls:
    WASD = keys to move.
    F = Turn on/off flashlight.
    E = pick up items. / look at objects.
    Q = use selected item displayed on the top right corner with object.
    TAB = change selected item.
    SPACE = use the camera

    NOTICE:
    the inventory can be confusing because flashlight does not add itself to the inventory.
    you can use whatever you have selected in your inventory while having the lights on.

    WebPlayer:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59009265/PhobiaWeb/WebPlayer/WebPlayer.html

    here is a little bit GamePlay footage. (this is an outdated image. the mesh for the girl has been changed and textured)

    I got mad and quit and here is why,

    Could not tab (inventory) to the wrench
    it often said can not use both items such as flashlight but i had no idea how to swap them or place in inventory

    character girl is cute
    scene interaction object are varied and interesting

    yeah and i tried the tab key like i said i could not switch the flashlight for the wrench least that's how i understood not holding two items at once.

    remember the player is not the developer.

    it sounds to me that you are using the wrench in the wrong places.
    try to examine the place more by pressing E.

    Sweet game, I like it.

    I was stuck in the first room for a while because of the camera angle I could not see the door.
    I didn't finish the game (I think), I will play it again after a few more updates.

    Was more scared than I thought I would get, and am a little on edge now.
    Good job.

    It's not that bad, I like it
    the problem is that after i broke the planks with the axe the cameras started to acting strange
    when I was in the in the bathroom the camera switched to the other room and viceversa

    it's good and I actually got a little spooked.

    The camera trigger switching needs fixed though. It glitched up a lot for me where the camera was in the wrong room.

    Interesting. I keep getting killed by the ghost - I tried to run away but the controls are too clumsy. This much is OK - dying is good, and should have some consequences - but it's a bit tedious to start again from the beginning.

    I actually preferred it when I didn't know how to run - having the girl walk slowly around the place adds to the tension. I think you could magnetize the flashlight towards interesting objects to help the player see them - and as a hint. The problem is that the control system otherwise makes it artificially difficult to light certain things up.

    There is ambiguity in your camera positions, as sometimes you require the player to come close to the camera, or go through a door in a wall adjacent to the camera. It would be clearer if the cameras were placed such that there's never anything interesting near them. Encouraging players to examine areas of rooms which you haven't put detail into, or where the camera or controls don't work so well, is counterproductive.

    thanks for the comment :D
    i am currently adding a save feature in the game. i am also trying to figure out a way to make it easier to find objects and replacing some objects so you don't have to go almost behind the camera.

    I jumped 3 times in this game... including at the end.

    I have ultra-loud headphones on, and i decided to go fullscreen in a dark room and play this on a 32" tv :)

    8/10 I like it a lot

    some time ago when i updated unity the files somehow got corrupted.

    well i am not sure if it got corrupted. but after the update the collision detection and the animations stopped responding.

    Played it a little bit.. goes that I didn't finish because I only collected a handful of items and closed it.. anyway, I like it, but it would be cool, if the movement was a little smoother. I'm not sure if its intentional, but it reminds me a lot of my own stuff where I just can't get the character to move the way I'd like to.. or is that intended?

    And I goes that I might as well mention the obvious.. music wouldn't hurt, even if its just something that you can barely hear.. listening to that water sound gets a little annoying. :| So you might want to tone it down as you move away from it (not sure where it was coming from anyway..), but if your gonna spend some time in that room, you might as well, make sure that it doesn't drive the player insane with that sound.. :)

    [edit] oh well, nvm.. sorry that it got corrupted.. :/

    Sorry to hear you quit this (especially for that reason, sucks!!)

    I think it had great atmosfear (sic), but I did have some frustration over the camera.

    Coming from a MUD background, I think it would be great to have a text description of the room you're in. That way, you're not completely lost if you run out of batteries.

    Well, no point in getting into details if you've quit. I guess I'll just leave it at "I thought it had potential".

    Unfortunately I dont have time to play more, but:

    -Great for a WIP indie horror game
    -Cameras got annoying in first three rooms
    -Was annoyed that I could not move faster, until I realized that it added to the suspence
    -HOLY S*** WHO BROKE A WINDOW

    fun game and has potential but a few things ruined it for me.

    1. The character is far too slow, shift didn't seem to make her go much faster.
    2. There is an annoying glitch when you go through doors where you seem to be stuck in limbo and can't get out. You get stuck behind the opposite rooms wall.
