Hello all. I've been working on a horror game and I wanted to show everyone a scene from the hospital part of the game. Right now im just working on level design and then I'll start on enemies and puzzles and whatnot.

I want to go back to horror games roots with the atmosphere of Silent Hill and the puzzle solving of the old Silent Hill and Resident Evil games so yes that means collecting keys and valves to progress.

I also want to focus heavily on the story but with very little cutscenes. I want the player to experience more and more of the story the more they explore through diaries and other notes scattered around.

I already added a camera phone that you can only see certain things through the phone that would normally not be seen. This will also play a big part with the puzzles revealing passwords written in blood on the walls and hidden messages.

So to get things started heres a video of a little scene of what I got so far. This isnt going to be a quick indie horror game where it only last 15-20 minutes but im shooting for a full fledged game. I hope you all enjoy.

[UPDATED TO A NEW CAMERA SYSTEM]
Originally I had a first person camera system but even though things looked quite nice up close I just wasnt getting anywhere with the game. I changed the whole camera system to a mix of static cameras (Old school Resident Evil) with cameras that are static but follows your player. I feel I can achieve so much more and I can bring things back to players that have been missing from Horror Games which is Atmosphere.
Each camera style has its advantages and disadvantages and Im quite happy with what i've got. I'm just using a test character model that I got from the asset store so dont pay any attention to that for the time being.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Those are always welcome.

The graphics look good! Good work.

By the way there is a free recording program called OBS that won't put a watermark at the top of your recording :D

Will it be just another amnesia / slender clone or game mechanics will be different?

Definitely not like slender since I despise all slender games. I absolutely hate the collecting random things.

Im shooting for a first person Silent Hill game with clever puzzles and eerie atmosphere.

It looks awesome, did you make all the props, etc. alone? If not can you point me a direction to get hospital props? I'm kinda in the development of something similar, but can't really find good hospital props :/
And one more thing, how did you paint the blood on walls? Are you using some script, or just simply put the texture onto a plane which was transparent?

I agree. The graphics look really nice. It'll be really exciting when you implement the diaries, enemies, etc.

What are your plans for audio? I do both music and sound and would be happy to talk with you about it! :)

Looks nice. A tip would be to lower the ambient sound so it's not so loud. Just lower it a tad. Don't do to many jumpscares and please keep us updated!

You can search the asset store for "hospital" and some stuff will show up. You can also try Turbo Squid but some things are expensive. if you're looking to buy you should search for packages that come with more than one prop. You'd be surprised the mileage you can get with just 10-15 props if you use them sparingly and are smart about placement so things don't look too repetitive. I also texture, re-texture and resize a lot of the assets I have to stretch the longevity of the assets.

Hi Peter... First of all: Great idea man!
I like the videos and seem to be a great indie horror game.
I can play a demo? You can send me the .exe? I like to know about new projects and I can help you with advices.
