Psd File Support for Psd Importer

Hi,
Can anyone confirm if the Psd Importer will officially support Psd files and if so when?

I am using krita to draw and it can only export in psd not psb. Here are the workarounds I tried so far:

-I tried renaming my psd file to psb but it caused unity to get stuck in a reimport loop.
-I tried the editor override trick mentioned in the manual which also caused unity to stall: https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.2d.psdimporter@4.0/manual/index.html
