Protest Idea for a video game

Seen the recent disgusting developments at Blizzard Activision I came up with an idea for a video game during my bLizzard account deletion request proces

Lizard Harstivision (This game can doom bLizzard)

Top Down videogame where a girl has to work in the office box and try not to be sexharassed bay a bos and other situation cited by the Californian government lawsuit. I know it’s an extreme idea but given the current situation the whole industry is under attack and an appropriate response is needed

thanks for looking after my personal smal protest. I hope someone sits down with some assets and make this game.

 

No doubt that this is a locked thread in potentia, but attempting to distil complex, nuanced issues that have significant personal weight for certain individuals into mere simplistic game mechanics is not something game designers and makers should be doing.

 

That sounds like a terrible idea!
I'm sure it would be possible to do a narrative game that handles this topic well, but a gameplay loop consisting of "trying to not be sexually harassed by a boss" sounds really awful and shows a lack of understanding such a topic.

Could it be profitable? Of course, everything controversial has the chance to be profitable. Is it right to do? Absolutely not!

 

Pfft, no. This game won't do anything other than feel like an attempt to make money off of a bad situation. Just the fact that the poll mentions profit shows that was one of the first things you thought of. If this will doom anyone it will be the idiot that makes it.

 

By the time you finish your prototype, people will already forget for Blizzard lawsuit.

Blizzard is a trademark, so stuffing it into the title of your game is probably not the smartest thing to do.

If your idea was to target SJWs as auidence, then SJWs are not gamers. "Go woke, go broke" exists for a reason.

The very same group will likely accuse you of implementing a horrible game that promotes exploitation of women in the workplace, that is if they even become aware of its existence in the first place.

Overall, the whole idea strongly resembles certain type of sexual content adult games, and those likely are complete opposite of what you're trying to do. (What was the forum age restriction rating again? Not sure if this can be even discussed her properly).

The subject is very touchy, so to handle it properly you'd need an amazing writer. And you do not appear to have one available.

Its not a protest if you are trying to make profit. Thats called profiteering. Exactly the opposite of protesting in the name of a good cause.

Feeling strongly about this matter won't make your game successful.

Free to Play implies that the game has some sort of monetization scheme, which will imply that you're trying to profiteer from the situation, like MadeFromPolygons said.

There's not much material to educate about either.

 

So by someone with a background in supporting victims of sexual harassment then? you know, to be educational about it... instead of stupid crass exploitation?
So where's the education going to come from. someone experienced in counselling? Involved with workplace harassment law? HR procedures? Playing a lot of Leisure Suite Larry games?

Ah, okay, the solution to sexual harassment is for women to try not to be harassed. Very educational. Do we start with a scene slut-shaming them for not wearing boiler suits and fencing masks, or is that a mini-game?

 

If this can be made with some assets in 2 - 3 weeks, why don't you just do it? If it only takes this long there is no reason to discuss possible outcomes. You just have to try it.
