Project UV from Camera v1.60

    Yes it can be used for that. Although, the UV projection quality is driven by the number of vertex, and the size of the mesh on screen. If you have a tiny little object far from the camera (so a little surface occupied by the mesh on screen), the UV projection won't be very accurate (of course).

    Quick question - is it possible to change texture to one from an array ?
    Or even better from video ?

    Project UV from Camera (PUV) doesn't manage materials or shaders. That's why you don't have to change your shader. It works with every materials (including customs ones).
    The asset doesn’t swap bitmaps in materials slots, but it can be easily achieved with a few lines of code.

    Yes it does.
    I didn't test on every platforms, but theorically it works everywhere.
    Actually, it works for sure on Linux, Windows, Mac, iOs, Android, Windows Store, Xbox, webGL. Don't know for the other platforms, but there is no reason it wouldn't work.

    UV Projection is no longer working in the latest versions of Unity. No errors are thrown. It silently does nothing when the "Project UV" button is pressed. I debugged it down to this line in ProjectMesh() in ProjectUV.cs:

    yield return new WaitForEndOfFrame();
    That line of code never completes and the projection code is never run. My quick fix for Editor Projection is:

    if (!Application.isEditor)
    {
    // Fixes plugin not working in editor. End of frame is never triggered
    yield return new WaitForEndOfFrame();
    }

    That small change was enough to fix the module for my purposes. Not sure if there are any other issues.

    I tried with Unity 2018.1.3f1 and everything seems to work in editor as it used to.
    Can you be more specific about the way the issue is occuring with you ? I would like to be able to reproduce the problem to fix it.
    Please PM me for more infos.

    ps: Did you try to close Unity and re-open it, and eventually clear your project's Library directory ? (Do not forget to backup...)

    Hi @Cec , just wanted to know before buying, does it work with scriptable rendering pipeline like (LWRP in my case)?

    PUV has nothing to do with rendering pipeline technically. Mesh's UVs are modified before the rendering pipeline handles it. It's no shader based. So, yes, PUV works on every rendering pipelines.

    Hey, I was using the project uv camera script earlier today and it suddenly just stopped working. Even the example projects are no longer generating uvs (I tested by clearing the old uvs and trying t regenerate them). I know this is not supported on Unity 2019.1 (which is what I am using) but I was able to use it for the past week until sometime this morning when it just stopped. Any idea what might be going wrong? I tried the usual debugging steps by restarting my pc, unity, the works. Re-imported the package, still nothing.

    Scratch that, the moment I said that I said, why not just dive into the code and see whats up. Turns out it was a layer issue so the uv projection stuff was getting ignored, at least in my main projection. Not sure what happened in the samples but that is a problem for another day.

    The plugin has been removed from the asset store. Is it not available any more?

    Yes, sorry.
    Due to recent changes from Unity on Asset store (early 2019), I had to retire all my assets from asset store since I'm do not agree those new policies.
    I had lots of many ideas about new assets like PUV, but I have been away from the Asset Store since then.
    I'm really sorry for people who trusted in PUV but Unity is not easing life for indies on Asset Store.

    That asset represent a lot of work and time.
    Since no one care to even respond to my pm, I decided to drop completely the asset. Sorry for the inconvenience. Maybe you can find a shader solution wich would do the job. I believe also the asset is circulating on cg persia... maybe you could find it.

    Hey @Cec, thanks for making this awesome asset, and sorry that others requested your time and then failed to respond, how rude! Also sorry that the Asset store made changes you weren't OK with, they seem to make a lot of tasteless moves.

    It sounds like many people would benefit from the hard work you put into designing this (even if it takes some tweaking to update), and it's a shame to have that work go to waste. Would you consider making the asset open source on github so that it can be maintained and learned from by the community?

    Thanks for your consideration, I think it would save myself and others plenty of time :)
