Project: City Life

I'm registering an account today just to weigh in on this S***heap. Before anyone asks, no, I do not develop games in Unity.

Firstly, a shout out to Carve for telling it how it is. Can't quite believe someone feels the need to publicly state they are reporting him for harassment.

Why does it seem to be that the people who vehemently defend him from the cold hard facts always have private correspondence with him? This is the third time I can think of off the top of my head that someone has done this. Starts to make you wonder if James' one skill in life is as a hypnotist.

Yes. He always is. Usually when he's supposed to be working on another project. He always gives the 'oh, I was working on it in my spare time...' but he's unemployed. All of his time is his spare time, time that doesn't go towards working on things he is meant to.

Oh, I'm sorry, does truth hurt your sensibilities? Is it too unpleasant?

Well clearly not.
And honestly, by this stage, I wholly expect someone to actually go and read through That RPGCodex Thread before making claims that they have an inkling of the situation.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Appleton, but James the volunteer? Do you know WHY he's a volunteer?

It's because being paid would show him to be fit for work, whilst he's been a lifetime claimer of disability benefits. That's why during GreedMonger he was prepared to 'volunteer' his (cough) services for the measly sum of $4000 and a gaming rig. Fast forward a bit to the point where some dodgy dealing is going on with regards to who owns GM and you'll find he walked away from that with a good many assets and software licenses.

From what can be inferred from the skypelogs James has accrued over $20,000 worth of the KS money in the form of cash, new hardware, software and graphical and networking assets.

Well, the fact you blatantly are defending someone aside, you cite encouraging. I am normally all for that, I personally think the drive for greatness that a few positive words can give someone is a wonderful thing.

But James isn't a kid with the potential for grandeur. He's hopelessly trapped in the delusion that he is capable of ever doing this which is quite frankly unhealthy, especially considering what appears to be a pathological need to lie at every possible opportunity. Pursuing such an unrealistic goal is nothing but wanton escapism and anyone supporting him in this should really take a step back and consider whether it really is a morally right thing to do. If any of you had any decency you'd tell him to stop and make something incredibly simple and moreover SINGLE PLAYER and push him into actually FINISHING IT. Backing his pipedreams does nothing but encourage him to repeat the same old habits that will leave the rest of his life utterly devoid of achievement.

I think I had a few more things to say, but I've forgotten them and it's time I headed to work anyway. I know this post will probably cause a lot of offense but my only animosity towards people is from the fact that they take their head out of their arse before talking.

 

Can someone please give a 1 paragraph synopsis of this whole story?
