So, I just experimented with 64 and 32 bit Unity clients on windows 8.1
The thing is, I experience difficulties, I can manage to get anything done.
The scene screen becomes all black
    The program lags
    and freezes.
    help?

    screenshots needed?

I would check the windows event log and see if there's anything interesting there. You might be having some system instability when it comes to Unity.

Has it been always this way?
If not, when did you first notice the issue? What was installed recently? Unity plugin perhaps? New video drivers?

I'm linking Win7 directions but should be very similar to Win8. See if you can see anything related to Unity in the logs.

Also check out Unity's own log files.
