problem with sheen in standard unity shader

    has anyone else had the problem of too much specular in the standard unity shader? I have tried both metalic and specular with smoothness set to 0 and specular set to black in both it's RGB and alpha channels, even changing the alpha in albedo slot to black, am I missing a simple checkbox fix?

    unfortunately getting the same effect with both the ggx shaders and the hidden deffered ggx replacement in the menu (btw it does make specular things look waaaaaaay better though).
    Is it maybe a lighting setting I need to tweak? I attached an image of this wood from the other side where it doesn't look specular at all
