Question Problem with Rider updates and unity integration

So, Im sure Im being a dufus.

However, Rider goes "Hey, i have an update. Can I install it" .. yes

then even though like now i have 2 riders listed in my unity editors dropdown 2023.1.4 and 2023.2 .. even though I only have 1 rider installed, it mostly works but then unity doesnt seem to notice the files have changed and recompile them. If I select 2023.2 as the editor it sometimes whines to check the plugin is installed in unity - it is.. ive even uninstalled/reinstalled, then if i use the old one, it looks like its working but still doesnt usually recompile.

A while later - like a few days and mostly it then fixes itself but i have a few days of cursing.. What can I do to speed this up?

Im remembering why i went off rider last time.

 

For a proper investigation, we'd need a report via Help->Report a Bug, agree to attach log. Sorry to hear about such an experience, we'd be willing to investigate.

However if you just want a poweruser "speed this up" suggestion - try switching to use JetBrains Toolbox App and avoid standalone installers.

 

Thanks @van800 I am using the toolbox app.. It also claims its attached to unity.. but right now, its driving me insane as my ability to type bs is out of this world, and having to restart unity all the time is not helping. I have logged the bug. But last time I paid up for rider I didnt renew after a year because it was taking over a minute to start, now if every time theres an update it is going to do this, i just dont have the patience for it.. Given im not doing anything exciting I find it hard to believe Im the only one

 

Would you mid sharing a bug-report link here? I believe I haven't seen it.

 

After toolbox updates rider it makes issues in unity : RIDER-97039 (jetbrains.com)

although I will say one thing, apparently when i click report bug and it says can i send log files and I say yes.. It doesnt do it
