In the scene view I do not see any more the images of ui. Is it a bug? Or a novelty.
I'm having the exact same problem.
For some reason I can't see anywhere to actually submit a bug on the Issue Tracker.
All I see is bounding boxes, no actual bitmaps in the Scene view.
I'm also having the same problem, UI Canvas is invisible in the scene view after updating to 5.0.1p4
Awesome, it's the same problem as with the latest 4.6 patch release!
+1 the same problem , back to p3 but i needed the assetbundler fix :_
Same problem here.
FYI, I noticed that the UI is invisible in the Screen space - Camera mode and Overlay, but it is visible in the world space mode.
What's the assetbundler fix?
(693223) - AssetBundle: Fixed the issue that scene AssetBundle didn't get rebuilt when the referenced prefabs were changed.
I have reported the bug to Unity by issue Tracker.
+1 Same here...
oh, I reported, in case no one did: 695737
oops, didn't see that one, send us the link.
Nothing is visible in the scene view.
I was in the final stages of testing a new release of TextMesh Pro for Unity 5.0 and decided to update to this new 5.0.1p4 of Unity 5.0 and ran into this issue as well.
Got scared there for a minute as I loaded one of my test scenes and nothing showed up in the scene view. I then tried to add a simple UI.Button and that didn't show up either. I am relieved the issue isn't with my product
We reported this bug for 4.6.x at work, and now that it is reported for 5.x too we might actually have a chance of it being fixed! Of course the fix itself might not end up in 4.6.. It's no secret that the UI has been a smelly can of worms in the latest few 4.6 releases, not to mention that UI team seems to have disappeared from the forums. A bit worrying.

This will be fixed in 5.0.2f1, which is due out this week. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Also not too comforting this major UI workflow issue was somehow entirely missed by QA before pushing the most recent patch out the door. Is basic UI development not in the QA testing scripts? Evidently not.
There are no QA testing scripts for the patch releases. QA only verify that the specific thing that was claimed to be fixed is fixed; they don't check that other things are not broken. That's why we don't recommend people use patch releases unless they absolutely have to; if the fixes are merely 'nice to have' for you, but you want something that has been fully QA'd, you need to wait for the point release (which is usually around every 4 weeks, instead of every week).
BTW, this should also be fixed in 4.6.5p2.
I totally get that actually. I just sort of assumed that the 'no QA testing' statements more meant that you guys aren't going to stand behind absolutely every obscure item in a patch build so we shouldn't assume it should be used for production releases. I didn't however thing the 'no QA testing' statement meant that nobody opens the build before release and makes sure normal workflow items didn't break. I'm not trying to be cute here in saying that either, just honestly didn't understand the degree to which we should take the 'no QA testing' statements literally. ;-)
No worries on this end though. You guys do an outstanding job. I'll be happy to get the updated fix when it's available and I'll be more cautions about the weekly releases in the future unless I've got a specific fire I need to put out.
No worries I think we could probably use a more explicit warning on the patch releases page, which makes the extent of QA a bit more explicit. I'll raise it with the team...
where is 4.6.5p2? still not released?
I think you should do this as 90percent of patch releases so far seem to break something which is important...Dont see why you cannot least run simple QA automation pack on release.
Oh, we run the automated tests continually (before a change is even merged into the patch release branch, often). That catches a lot of issues that you never even see - but we're limited by what our tests do and do not cover.
I believe we're starting the build process for 4.6.5p2 today, intending to release on Friday.
Is it due today, thought Wednesday Unity 5 releases?
Yep, we're on track for releasing it later today.
I didn't see this on the 5.0.2 release notes, it was fixed?
Still happens to me both in 5.0.2f1 and 5.0.2p1, thought this was supposed to be fixed?
It should be, yes - we did verify it before releasing the build. I'm downloading 5.0.2f1 myself right now to check again. In the meantime, could you check:
a) that the version you are running actually is what you think it is - sometimes people (particularly on Mac) think they've mounted and run a new version of the installer when actually they just re-ran the one they had mounted before
b) that the UI is not hidden due to the UI layer being set to invisible, via the Layers dropdown in the top right corner of the editor?
Weird, for me 5.0.2 fixed it both in Windows and OS X.
I just downloaded 5.0.2f1 from the site and checked it, and it's definitely working for me.
I even created a new project and made double sure I'm using 5.0.2p1. Tried both DX9 and DX11 mode. Every UI object is a yellow box in scene view.
Edit: Nevermind! Somehow the shading mode was set to render paths instead of shaded. All good!
What happened to 4.6.5p2?
We have a candidate build for release, but due to a national holiday in Denmark on Thursday, QA's verification of the fixes hasn't been completed yet. Hopefully that'll happen tomorrow, and the build will be released shortly afterwards.
We are waiting 4.6.5p2
This issue reappeared in 5.0.2p2, at least for me. I have checked and re-checked the version of Unity that I have installed, I checked that the UI layer is visible and the shading mode is set to "shaded". Was the issue reintroduced in this latest patch (and, if so, will it be fixed in the next patch) or should I just do a clean install of Unity?
It did show back up for me as well... but I've been afraid to mention it since I promised to not jump to bleeding edge releases without a burning need. I definitely can't see my UI in 5.0.2p2 scene view though.
I have the same problem on 5.0.2p2, is there any workaround, albeit temporary?
+1 to this issue, also using 5.0.2p2
This is definitely broken again in 5.0.2p2 - can't see UI in scene view....
Reverting to 5.0.2p1 fixes issue
The problem is still present in 5.0.2p3, which was released today.
I will also be reverting to 5.0.2p1, for now.
Lol, did u read changelog, so yeh of course it still be present!
Yeah, I read it. I was just posting here to save people the trouble of downloading it to test if it's still present.
Also, I don't remember the fix for this issue being on the changelog for 5.0.2f1, so it wouldn't be the first time that a fix was absent from the changelog.
There's also no need to be an asshole when we're all trying to fix a problem here.
Then you can continue to fix the problem your own self, I really hope now they delay this fix as much a possible for your sake. Saying 100 times, I got the same problem really going to help
Here is mine, works in the game window, but doesn't in the scene view.
Any brave souls try this in Patch 5.0.2p4 yet?
I did, It's working now
In the new version 5.0.2f1 it works.
This bug is still not fixed in 4.6.6
