    Hello Unity people,

I was hoping to get some data, and I figured it would help those in my position also- I am a composer/sound designer thinking about selling my first asset pack on the unity store. I've been browsing the audio asset page, I have two questions:

    1. What would you (a hobbyist, single-person developer, small studio) consider to be a "reasonable" price for an audio pack that contains 8-10 loopable music tracks of varying styles/moods and around 50 sound effects? (sort of a "starter" pack)

    2. To the people who run the asset store, specifically the landing page for audio: I'm confused as to how "popularity" is sorted on this page. For the most part it makes sense, as I see rows of five star ratings with hundreds of reviews near the top. However from simply browsing "by popularity", I keep seeing Bohn Studios listed repeatedly, but they have "not enough ratings" instead of a star rating, and they all have only 1 review. Why are these interspersed with the others? It doesn't seem consistent, and I would guess is affecting the visibility of top-rated creators. Furthermore they are priced at THOUSANDS of dollars (I believe the most expensive one I saw was $3500). I listened to the tracks of these packs and they are certainly good, high-quality audio, no question about that. However they are not that much better than top-selling "mega" packs with 700+ reviews that are going for $100.

Please don't misunderstand me- I have been a professional musician for two decades, and a composer/sound designer for roughly 5 years. I am a wholehearted advocate of artists (especially music creators) earning their worth. The industry is eroded constantly by musicians settling on a much lower price than they deserve, which keeps the status quo where it is. That being said, can someone please explain what's going on with Bohn Studios? How are they able to price their product in the stratosphere (and are they actually selling?), and why are they smeared all over the "most popular" pages with only one review and no rating?

I don't want to come across like I'm taking shots at the Asset Store or Bohn Studio, I really just want to have enough information to make informed decisions about selling my own product.

Thank you for any feedback, I appreciate it!

    Sincerely,
    Michael

To answer your question about Bohn, as I understand it (keep in mind I don't work for Unity so I don't know for sure), popularity is weighted by purchase price. So, for example, a single high-value purchase would place an asset ahead of multiple purchases at a lower price or free. Looking at their most expensive asset, the one review it has was gifted to the reviewer, which I'm guessing counts as a purchase, not a free download. Maybe they're selling other units as well, I don't know, but my guess would be probably not at that price.

FWIW I have a suspicion that sorting by 'Popularity' means Top grossing, and 'Relevance' is Downloads based on few clicks i made there (as idiotic as it sounds)
