prefab variant greyed out

I can't create a prefab anybody know how to fix this?

 

You can't create prefab variant out of nothing. You have to right click on the existing prefab and then the prefab variant option will be available.
If you want to create just a new prefab (not a variant), drag the existing gameobject from hierarchy to preject window.
