prefab of gameobject with several child objects referring to another prefab

    I have a complex gameobject with several child gameobjects which are based on the same prefab. When I create a new prefab from the complex object the children lose the prefab connection to the original prefab and refers to the individual child in the new prefab.

    Visual representation:

    -------------------
    first
    -------------------
    1. Original prefab

    2. Complex gameobject
    - Child object 1 - refering to 1
    - Child object 2 - referring to 1

    -------------------
    second
    -------------------
    1. Original prefab
    2. Complex prefab based on complex gameobject
    - 3 - child prefab 1
    - 4 - child prefab 2

    5 - Complex prefab instantiation
    - 6 - child object 1 - referring to 3
    - 7 - child object 2 - referring to 4

    Is there a way to keep the many-to-one connection when using prefabs/importing/exporting or is there another way of doing this?

    Thanks, too bad. Any tips to ways of keeping prefab connections while exporting/importing?
