The work station where the money is made, and without surprise where I seemingly live the majority of my life. Devices range from decrepit Pentium 4s up to brand new PowerEdge servers, with a half-cage in the backroom - running operating systems from Windows NT Workstation on backup instruments, Windows Server 2012 on interface systems, with a mix of Windows XP and Windows 7 on standalone computers. All of this equates to essentially being an IT nightmare.
    IMG_1203.jpg

And finally the "work station" where the dreams are fueled. I'm in the process of converting the spare room into an office, so right now the MacBook Pro (Mid-2012; 16Gb DDR3; 512Gb SSD) and my temporary second monitor (iPad 3; Duet Display App) finds a home on the living room coffee table. All the other toys (Alienware Alpha Intel-i3, two 23" Apple Cinema displays, stands for all the devices, keyboard, mouse, etc.) are currently boxed away in the corner until the office is finished.

LOL, I love it, I post one pic with my computer system and all the talk is about my better 1/2... FYI she also game dev with me on our twich channel. (Her set up is the one on the right) I have nothing but respect and love for her. I know I am not the easiest person to live with and she puts up with me building massive computer systems, having computer servers, computers, parts, etc laying all over the house. Lets me keep our 5' server rack in our living room. I can stay up to 3am in the morning working on our MMORPG and she does not get mad. And almost every time I show her some asset on the asset store I want or some geeky toy she wants it too. She is every geeks dream and I can not pic my live with out her... Call it true Geeky Love, and she is all mine....

Here is my current mess. I'm thinking of replacing the desk with a Skarsta sit stand desk and put a shelving unit against the wall. The chair needs to go. I'd like to put together a custom 80/20 cockpit together that I could also work at when sitting.

The common thing I see that needs improvement is storage space for computer odds & ends, smaller desktop computers that look good and still be upgraded, and much better room lighting. Compare the rooms with an outside source of light in those pictures compared to those rooms with incandescent bulbs in rooms with no windows.

My actual setup is 2 laptops. And I usually don't even use them at the same time. The only space I need is my lap!

Small computers that look good, storage space and natural light are all over rated. And laptops.

You guys would be horrified of my workstation if I posted a picture... just recently got a new laptop though, and its pretty sweet. If I weren't poor, I might have gotten my own place, a car which doesn't look like crap (runs great though! I take good care of it!) and a real job.

Instead I decided to attend another school so I can get a real job :p

Where do you live? That's not a bad strategy if you're hoping the next president will make college free :)

@Tomnnn I live in Montana. To be sure, there IS internet out here too. Its not all mountain ranges and plains here! XD

But the Elk does outnumber the human population by quite a bit. If there's ever an armed Elk uprising I'm not sure how well we will do.

We just know have elk and bear repopulating where I live after about 125 year absence in most places. I just saw a weaned cub again last month raiding a trash can.

There is a big business scene in IT around Kalispell as I came within a hair of moving there.

Also, for all you IT folk if you can settle for not working for Google, Microsoft, or Apple, and let's face it most of you do, there is an IT business scene with jobs in every state capitol. And often you'll find a smaller one at the county seat level, hospitals, schools, universities, and surprise: national and state parks. Basically if the government is involved at some level there are IT jobs to be had. The days when you had to move to the other side of the country to get a IT job are over.

    The Montana Zombie Elk Apocalypse.

I once blew a tire driving 160km/h in Montana. That was fun.

I drive a car once 100 miles an hour too, once and only once, to get 75 miles away to take an ACT test at a University as a senior in high school on a Saturday. Oh I made it on time and pasted the test, but stupid that was as cars aren't made to handle these crummy roads at that speed and not long after that the axle on the car broke at more normal speeds of 55 on the interstate and left the driver with no steering. That students had to go on a Saturday that started at 7:30 AM far away from their homes to take a test during the school year, well I can't be blamed for that part of the stupid. 100 MPH anymore? No thanks. I've passed too many speed demons when I lived in DFW several times each week in wrecked heaps on the side of the interstates as I made my twice daily 60 mile commute to Fort Worth. Lucky that they got onto the shoulder and stopped safely. LOL, of course I got chewed out by my boss daily for not being at work until like 8:15 instead of 7:30 or eventually 8:00 when they changed the rules.

@Tomnnn that idea does not satisfy my requirements for innovation :p zombie games are quite overdone. I do recall a game about deer hunting humans though.... wayyyyy back in the day. I also think there isn't much special about an elk vs human game... merely an FPS or TPS with a character swap.

Wellcome @CG_Artist to Unity community. I'm selling the 2 old monitors (1920x1200 = 80usd), I purchase a used pixel burned 48 (110cm) 4K that is running with one old 7970 and the other 7970 an old HMD DK2. Probably 48 is too big, better a 42. I try putting the two 7970 in crossfire but did not work.

    upload_2017-5-13_11-44-48.png

But having an extra monitor is better for real-time adjustment as for example saving photoshop textures or following video tutorials.
