Hi I'm currently working with vs community 2017. I'm looking into a solution where I can have portable versions of unity and an IDE on my usb stick.I haven't been able to find a working solution yet. Anyone does something similar?
Visual Code has a portable mode: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/portable That appears to be portable unity, not the IDE part though. OP seems to have the unity part figured out, they need the IDE part.
Ah. VS. Yeah - that could be an issue - I'm using Monodevelop, and that is portable (and on Mac, too).
I've tried that, but it doesn't seem to work since it needs some other things installed too, the .NET thing for instance.
Just run the full Unity installation procedure (Monodevelop comes with Unity Mac) on the thumb drive.
Script Inspector 3. Since it's an editor extension asset it will run directly inside of Unity. https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/visual-scripting/script-inspector-3-3535
HOT DAMN! It didn't even occur to me to look for a Unity-Integrated editor. Probably comes from spending way too much time in XCode, CodeWarrior and Eclipse. Damn that thing is nice, a steal at 30 bucks! Thanks for the tip, Ryiah!
