Hi guys I know I'm asking this question in the wrong place but I'm desperate right now , I'm with a team and we have
a problem we have been trying to solve for over 2 days now ! , I really need your help guys.
    I'm getting an error :
    SerializedObject target has been destroyed.
    UnityEngine.GUIUtility : ProcessEvent(Int32,IntPtr).
It appears when reloading the scene or when the scene has changed
    SceneManager.LoadScene(1, LoadSceneMode.Single);
We have done a lot of research and asked a few people who know unity and we still could not solve it.
Please help us , thank you and sorry for posting this in the wrong place.

Wow such a waste of time...2 days because your entire team cannot be bothered to Google your problem.

I get the same error - although the above issue tracker was not helpful...

Whenever I have an object selected in editor (at least with move gizmo) and load an other scene from code, I get the error message.

Upgraded from 2018.1 to 2018.2.0f2 - but it is the same in this version too.

if I deselect active object, I don't get the error...

EDIT: It would be easier to find these posts, if post headings were more descriptive...

It helps to actually read about it. As it is pointed out this is a bug and it has regressed back in. There are many duplicate bug reports about this same issue and if one can be bothered to google the issue than actually read about all of them and they will realize that its a known bug that has regressed. And low and behold it also shows the unity versions that do not have the bug. If you cannot use one of those than wait, move on to something else while waiting.

You could also submit bug reports to have this move higher up on the unity tasks. This is only effecting a handful of people so I doubt unity will care much for a couple people...if more people submit the bug reports the more attention it will received. Or at least vote on these issues..

For anyone with this issue, I managed to fix mine somehow. All I had to do was hide the Inspector if it was open ... not sure at all why this works but it did ..

This seams to be still an issue in 2019.1.9f1
It happens to me ocassionally in the Editor especially in projects that dynamically load and unload scenes at playmode start:.
After closing and reopening Unity the error is gone usually for a while.

Interessting part would be : How could that affect a build ?

Did you ever find a fix other than closing and reopening?

This is happening to me as well. Dynamic scene loading/unloading on start may be the cause but it's very difficult to tell exactly what is the root cause of the issue.
Closing/reopening the editor does not fix the problem, nor does deleting and rebuilding the Library. Feels like a permanent issue once it occurs once in the project for me.

Edit: This occurs for me only when trying to build the game. Builds always fail with the SerializedObject Target error.
